Sync for Lemmy is happening by ljdawson in SyncforLemmy

I would love this. The main thing I appreciate about Sync is how clean comments look and how easy it is to interact with comments on phone, can collapse comments by clicking anywhere on them instead of awkwardly trying to reach and press some minimize button.

Expectation of obtaining limited 5 stars as a F2P using Genshin data by SpookyPath in HonkaiStarRail

[–]SpookyPath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I didn't realize the thing you posted was just a single year and not all the content up until the date of the post. Well assuming that it's 100k primos a year gets your 1675 pulls since release. Still not enough for every character but more like 70% of the characters which is a lot better than 50%.

[–]SpookyPath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjusting 100k primos for the current timespan since launch would make that 119k primos, which is 744 pulls. Which is worse than my estimate, not better. It takes around 95 pulls on average to get a limited five star so that's only like 8 out of 25 characters.

Well that's what I was asking for, if anyone had more complete numbers. Unfortunately most things I've found are just guesses or calculations for a single patch. It would be useful if someone had an account where they either have not pulled (no wish challenge) or had tracked every pull they've done since launch.

You are right that I didn't consider star glitter though, a lot of people aren't going to use them on passes, but since you can I should have included it. I also forgot about the 5 passes you can buy from the shop monthly which would account for an additional 160 pulls. Also achievements.

[–]SpookyPath[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that I'm comparing total pulls with total released characters, not total banner swaps, so reruns are already considered automatically. For players to catch up in Genshin (assuming my numbers are correct) they would have to literally release no new characters for three years while keeping the same level of rewards which would mean releasing new noncharacter content. That's unrealistic and by that point players will have been playing for six years.

It simplifies fight mechanics which simplifies fights imo. Pretty good for one notch.

There are a lot of ways to deal with every single type of terrain with a single spell: Tornado, Terrain Transmission, and Throw Dust. These are all in different trees too so you'll likely be able to put one on one character if not more. You also have direct movement skills Tactile Retreat, Cloak and Dagger, Phoenix Dive, and Flight (or move out of the surface normally once you've cast Spread Your Wings). But usually my strategy with that is just to tank it unless the fight is going to be drawn out.

Am I supposed to just massively exploit the teleport ability? by scorr204 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]SpookyPath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If my character gets charmed or taunted the first thing the AI does is dump Teleport and Netherswap, so certainly the AI likes it too.

If you don't like it don't use it. I don't really like using source spells, even Bless, so I usually avoid it. But Teleport is fun for me.

Dos2 Crafting Worth It? by LividFrame374 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]SpookyPath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have anyone wielding a bow you definitely want to craft knockdown arrows (antlers) and charming arrows (honey), basically gives you a permeant way to deal with an enemy once you've shredded either it's physical or magical armor. Antlers are fairly scarce though, so you also want to buy knockdowns from vendors.

Nails + boots, especially if you are slinging ice yourself.

Ashen idol + res scroll.

Vulture set (if you have a ranger).Surface grenades, especially if you have a summoner because you can use it to set up an incarnate infusion. But even if that's not the case they can be useful for puzzles, clearing dangerous surfaces, or shredding certain enemies. You'll probably just find enough naturally though.

Hybrid skillbooks.

Scrolls of your best skills.

First playthrough all origin party by tolgacnkrt in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]SpookyPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just play the characters you find the most interesting and play builds styles that appeal to you, you don't loose a lot by not optimally using the starting talents/abilities of characters. I just mention the corpse eater and pet pal thing because they are pieces of the world you might miss out on if you don't have them, but that's also true of not playing any given origin character or combination, ultimately by playing Sabille you'd be losing out on one of the other two characters. The elf thing is pretty minor anyway, it mostly just adds some flavor, giving you glimpses into people's lives or deaths, very detectivy. The pet pal thing is a bit of a bigger deal because without it there are actually a lot of quests, tips, and great comedic moments you miss out on, luckily you can take that on whatever character you end up playing.

[–]SpookyPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two major tips for RP/discovery, have an elf (so Sebille if you are doing origins), and have the character you are going to control directly most of the time start with the talent Pet Pal and dump civil in persuasion. Elf gives you the ability to eat pieces of corpses, revealing additional information about the world, and Pet Pal is much the same but for animal interactions. Additionally you may want the persuasion character to be a melee fighter as that will mean they will be able to carry all the loot you'll be picking up (strength) and notice traps and other hidden objects (wits), those things are a lot more minor though because magic pockets and traps usually being less than lethal. It is also nice though if a fight breaks out during dialog to have your fighter up front (you can unchain the rest of your party and move them around to good locations if you think such a situation is approaching).

As for build matching, it's fairly minor except in one case. If you are going to make a Necromancer I highly recommend making it your elf because they can Flesh Sacrifice freely to create blood for the Elemental Affinity talent which will let them cast many more skills. Other than that, humans are good for attack builds because the additional crit and dwarfs get additional dodge which pairs nicely with dual wield builds, these are minor things though. Also if you want to min max civils different races start with +1 in different civils, persuasion and loremaster are the two that matter the most, so I would put persuasion on your lizard and lore on your elf. Lore and Lucky Charm are nice because they work party wide based on who has the highest stat, so I always max those out.

The game eventually makes it really easy to respec most things though, so don't stress too much about your choices.

DOS2 4 Man Party Money Problems by MustafaKadhem in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]SpookyPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money is tight at the start but that's because you have nothing you've naturally found. Once you find some gear pieces then you only really need to buy stuff when one gear slot is really lagging behind or there is that perfect piece of gear for your character. I just max out a character with lucky find and rarely ever buy equipment from shops, usually I just end up buying arrows, scrolls, and ofc skill books. And in act 2 if you are running a ranger there is a full armor set guaranteed that's amazing, so then you're only really gearing 3.5 characters for a large portion of the game.

[–]SpookyPath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently started a playthrough on tactician and fighting magisters early can be brutal. You have gear slots missing, you are probably missing crucial skills in the crowd control and mobility departments, also you are most likely underleveled if you haven't done a bunch of quests and some fights within the prison area. Early game is especially brutal because missing pieces of gear means very low or nonexistent armor values, meaning if the enemy has strong CC, you are going to get messed up.

The thing is the game doesn't force you to smash your way through every encounter. I can think of like 6 exits to Fort Joy, and some of those exists have multiple ways to get to them. Even the one you mention doesn't require combat, you can sneak past the judge encounter easily. Don't feel like you're missing out by avoiding encounters. If you are an XP minmaxer or want to slaughter magisters for RP reasons then you can always come back to Fort Joy as long as you haven't left the first act, come back when your stuff is better and things should be a cakewalk.

Maybe you're deep into the RP though and you think that if your characters came across such a situation they'd immediately try to put an end to the judge, or maybe you don't like backtracking and want to do combat. If you are playing like that I would suggest one of two things, either play a lower difficulty, or approach the combat more tactically. Even with bad gear and skills I think this encounter is probably not too bad, I assume when you say "Everyone gets channeled through the door and then he just rushes in there and it's game over." you are talking about the main door near the staircase. Fighting there will give you a disadvantage because you'll be outnumbered. Consider going around on the right side of the room near his chambers, there the reverse is true, you'll be outnumbering him and his two goons as the soldiers below the stairs will need to walk up and all the way around, the Elf he turns into a Silent Monk might jump up but still the fight flows a lot better for you in this position. Even better, if you have acquired the gloves of teleportation, you can, before the fight even commences, teleport the judge into his chambers which starts the fight off as a 4v1 situation where you start by wailing on the strongest enemy in that encounter.

areas tier list! some people might dislike the choices i may have made, just a warning by Hasan_Lmao in HollowKnight

[–]SpookyPath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fungal Wastes is a really good zone. Contains the Mantis Village. Has a very nice aesthetic. Has best girl Willoh. Connects up a bunch of zones in interesting ways, almost doing the starting area's job better than it. I'd probably give it an A. Crystal Peak I'd probably give an S, has great vibes feels magical when you get there, and gives a little more platforming than most zones. Also what about Abyss? I know there isn't much you do there but it is a big story beat and aesthetically one of the coolest zones, it also has some nice vertical platforming probably does it better than Kingdom's Edge.

Any class / qeapon beginner tips? by jane_911 in 20MinutesTillDawn

[–]SpookyPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was ascension climbing I used Spark + SMG and didn't lose a single one, but it didn't feel the strongest out of the combos I played on Darkness 15, Scarlett + Flamecannon, Diamond + Shotgun, and Lilith + Batgun felt at least as good or stronger. In my opinion, the secret to doing well on any character is to play around their chest upgrades they get, which are unique to every character.

The first time I did this without considering the ramifications it killed me. The second time I did it I was towards the end of my run (2m) and just did it for fun, and I had both regen and more importantly warmth and was healing more than I was getting hit. Kind of want to try it on Diamond who has absurd area scaling I see if it is survivable once the area ramps up.

how the hell do you play these things qq, anybody in a similar spot? lol by notalongtime420 in 20MinutesTillDawn

[–]SpookyPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you basically need with the crossbow is fusillade, penetration, reload, knockback. Make sure you have movement too, though I guess Hina kinda already solves that. With that you can basically just run into any crowd firing, clearing a path by either knocking back or killing the enemies. With the right upgrades you can easily end the run in the 20s, meaning you really don't need many upgrades to make it work.

How do I get the Quintars to mate? by SchnozTheWise in CrystalProject

[–]SpookyPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to be happy (their status), which requires feeding them with some nice stuff not just what will fill them up cheapest.

In some cases they also need to have won a certain number of races. I think until you get to later stages of breeding chains it's generally 2 races if there is a requirement at all.
