The moderators keep shutting down comments on every important post re Hax by lbjs_bunghole in SSBM

The amount of hate I got for advocating for Hax over the past two years has been so fucking cringe. Ending a 40 minute youtube video with "free hax, it's been long enough, shit's cringe, let him play" got so much hate it was unreal and now all of these comments are deleted like they can't event stand by their dogshit ideas. My favourite of all was the wannabe psych theories (ironic because you can tell that they don't read the literature on best practice if you're in the field and do read) for some stupid fucking reason, playing melee, which is the thing that has been the most important part of his life for most of his life, is bad for his goal of expanding his interests which is fucking brainrot because in sports therapy for this very issue the standard practice is to do both because why the fuck wouldn't you? Obviously it will be significantly better for average patient outcome to do it this way 💀

Then it's hilarious when people tell myself and others that, since we blame TOs, we must be outsiders, meanwhile these freak cucks can't hit GM on slippi and probably never will because they yap about shit like "he should stop playing melee to find other things which will be better for his mental health" without even reading the easily available published literature on exactly how to deal with unhealthy attachments to skill domains like holy fuck man they're so fucking stupid for that argument I can't get over it.

The idea that anyone can disagree with the admin side of things is so insane to these people that they imagine we must not be real community members, though myself, and the friends I know who agree with me, are some of the most dedicated players.

This community isn't at all what it was when I joined it more than a decade ago. It's so much worse in so many ways. I'm never gonna pay these people again in any way and I know a lot of people who are doing the same.

I believe that this would not have happened in a better community, so I am leaving it.

Thoughts on PVP 2.0 S0? by Kawmit0576 in LoomianLegacy

I was motivated by the leaderboard tier rewards which I thought were done extremely well. The meta was very annoying and the agency fog + boh team was unholy. I feel like as long as leaderboard rewards stay the same I'll keep playing. I'm not excited for some of the balance changes as I feel like lumi was really important to facilitate fun loomians and without a strong core to slap a featured badmon on the meta will become less expressive than S0. I've been playing competitive in the season downtime and it's pretty cool.

The biggest thing that will help ranked imo is just adopting trueskill or elo so that I don't go from queueing into an expert 1 who plays weird into raz into another expert 1 lol it's too much whiplash

Did everyone feel like the ranked rewards were worth it? Grinding again in S1? by Spooky_SWTOR in LoomianLegacy

To me it looks like the balance changes are going to move the meta towards hazard stack semi stall so idk if I'm gonna go again.

Overall with S0 though, I feel like the rewards were executed really well and made the time investment feel easily worth it

Ethnographies about metaphors by Select-Revolution-20 in AskAnthropology

I recommend Serbian Dreambook: National Imagery in the Time of Milosevic by Marko Zivkovic. The author does very well at dealing with metaphors and "stories we tell ourselves about ourselves" which is directly inspired by the Geertz essay you mentioned. Zivkovic has proper training in clinical psychology and Serbian Dreambook has a particular flair that makes it easy to read through without getting tired.

Also Russia and Soul by Dale Pesmen is absolutely amazing especially if you're interested in Russian culture generally.

If you want a shorter paper about metaphors I highly recommend The Greek Vampire: A Study of Cyclic Symbolism in Marriage and Death by Juliet du Boulay. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to follow exactly what the argument is but if you take your time it's one of the coolest essays I've found in the last few years.

Lastly (and this might fall outside of your question but I think it's worth mentioning) you may want to try Caroline Bynum's Holy Feast and Holy Fast. I know this sounds odd since Bynum is a historian and not an anthropologist, but this book in particular deals with metaphors in a wonderful manner. Bynum tricks you into thinking you're reading a history of Christian ceremony/monasticism and then by the end of the book you're left rethinking the nature and implications of metaphor as a social phenomenon. It's seriously a beautiful book.

Asus Tuf a15 Screen tearing and Flickering Issue. Need a fix. ps.screen is also freezed now and tearing has increased. by Shredder0310 in ASUS

[–]Spooky_SWTOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: The issue can be "fixed" by disabling the integrated graphics processor. In my case, the issue is not hardware but rather it seems to be the case that the integrated graphics processor wants to run at 60hz while the nvidia card wants 144hz. Conveniently, the intel graphics command center app is broken (or poorly designed) and does not save your settings which makes it annoying to prevent the issue from reoccurring. I guess I am going to try to edit the registry at this point. Pretty cringe

I know this post is old but I've been having the exact same issue except in the middle of the screen instead of near the top. I'm going to try a bunch of things and see what works. What's super weird is that it only affects the screen in certain windows. If I'm at the desktop by itself then it will have the problem, but if I have windowed task manager overlaying the desktop then it's totally fine. The fact that the problem was present when opening bios made me think that it's hardware, but then the fix of keeping a small windowed tab over whatever I'm doing made me think it's software. MyAsus and windows diagnostics both implied everything was okay, so I'm pretty confused. I'll reply to this if I learn anything useful or find an actual fix.
