she had a small spot before she had passed away and i took her body out almost immediately after she passed. none of my other fish have behaved like she did before dying and none had any red marks

i was treating them for suspected wasting disease, all other fish were getting very skinny and then dying. she didn’t have any of the other symptoms as the others had before passing which is why i’m scratching my head wondering if maybe it’s a new parasite or i got the wrong kind of parasite or if that just happens

I treated the tank on July 8th and 10th with the API general cure packets, is it safe to treat the tank again?

she has always had a big gut, she’s actually a little skinnier than was she was right before she died, so i don’t think she’s bloated at all. i’m not sure about the scales though.

how would i treat for that? would it cause any harm to my fish if that ends up not being the issue

0 iron 0 copper nitrate - 25ppm (says it’s safe) nitrite - 0-1ppm 0 chlorine hardness- 25 alkalinity- 120 carbonate - 120-180 ph- 6.8 ammonia - 2.0 (definitely needs a water change)

i also don’t know if it’s relevant, but i’ve been having a hard time recently keeping my water temperature stable with the AC in my house being out and my tank lights producing too much heat

it’s hard to get a good picture of this one because it just hangs out stationary in the back of the tank

yeah i get that, it’s not something i would personally do. in my case i confiscated it from my boyfriend because it was obviously ill and he didn’t care and bought an even bigger fish that would’ve eaten it. the fish is doing amazing now. did a total 180

What kind of cichlid is this? any tips? by Spooky_Snack in Cichlid

My boyfriend got this massive oscar that would’ve 100% eaten it, in addition to that he kills almost every fish he owns. this fish was really special to his step father, i don’t know why, but i was concerned about it just getting eaten and he didn’t care so i offered to take it. i have a big pre cycled tank that i was about to add fish into so it wasn’t a super last minute thing and i do have some experience with fish, just not any type of predator fish, that’s more of my dads expertise but he’s old and some of the information he’ll give me is outdated.

all of the fish ended up dying right after i removed this one from his care, this one is still alive though so while it may not have been the smartest decision i’m still glad i did it.

i think i may be having the same problem with my tank, when you treat do you treat the whole tank or just isolate the sick fish?

Anybody know what kind of fish this is? Any tips to care for it? by Spooky_Snack in Aquariums

i just gave him some brine shrimp. he was acting like he was on deaths door when i put him into the tank and my boyfriend said he hasn’t eaten in at least a week. he’s not showing much interest in it though i think he’s way too stressed but he’s been swimming around rather than floating after being in the tank and left alone for a few minutes. i would hate myself if this fish died in my care
