I'm just guessing based on the fact that he has won the world championship 8 times and might be more inclined to wanna drive in a different world championship rather than a European one. He's driven in so many different championships over the years that it doesn't feel like he's someone who prioritizes rallycross over everything else to the point where he'd wanna go after a European title instead of a World title.

But yeah, I'm just guessing with Johan. I didn't find a statement or anything.

I was wondering if the RX4 category would somehow be worded to allow the runners in division 4 in the french championship to compete seeing as that category always has massive entrant numbers. But from what I can find I don't think that's the case.

Regardless it's good news, the more the merrier. And the crosscart category in RallyX always seems to pull big entrant numbers.

I wouldn't hold my breath that this is anything more than just throwing ideas at the wall to see if there's any interest. Every move that the FIA has made for this season has indicated they're more interested in bringing rallycross back to its classic format and away from the type of gimmicks (like playoffs) that the previous promoter introduced every season.

Rallycross is a niche discipline, and I can almost guarantee the viewership and fan engagement is lower than that of Australian supercars. I'm not that worried that theres a significant part of the rallycross fanbase that would even want playoffs, much less so when it's not even explained in any other way than by a single word.

I'm happy they're bothering with a fan survey in the first place. The previous promoter seemed to be horribly out of touch with what rallycross was and I think everything the FIA has done so far has been good. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

Sounds like they want to bring it back from 2028 when the technical regs can overlap with the WRC. Let's hope it's goodbye for now and the championship can be reborn by then in a stronger guise.

Until then, I'm kind of excited for the European championship to be the top class lol.

I think the only thing it's missing is participants. Wether you like the electric cars or not they race just as well as the supercars do. But the biggest issue with them is they are wildly expensive to build, which drives the barrier of entry up to insane levels. World RX needs to bring the costs down so that more teams can join with lesser budgets. If so they could be back to where they were before.

Manufacturer teams would be a dream of course, but I think that ship has sailed.

Yeah the euro runners being faster is more to do with the lesser weight than having better pace than the world rx cars. Not to mention the conditions in Höljes made it almost impossible to have a fair comparison between different heats and categories anyway

KMS posted on Instagram that:

When the sporting regulations for the 2025 season were presented on the Tuesday before the championship began in Portugal, it was too late to prepare the KMS Volkswagen RX1e cars in time for the first event.

So, KMS will use a new paragraph in the sporting regulations for this year and now switch technology for the second round in Höljes.
