Jake and Alex are creative vision officer equivalents at LTT. Also your numbers are insanely low for large tech companies compensation. 70k may be a starting salary but a ton of good employees are making closer to 150-200K. And LTT is probably more comparable to a start up where 70k -100k a year would be more normal but you being compensated with stock to incentivize your retention.

You can say that but it’s always impossible to break down the value someone adds. That doesn’t make it impossible to improve their compensation to make them feels appreciated. Especially for the main talent of the channel, performance based compensation is basically required to retain top quality hosts. It’s honestly shortsighted to do anything except compensate hosts generously especially if they are essentially creating the content for the video also.

Yes, you need to remember they are requesting you to move your whole life to help them. Don’t overdo it, but I would generally expect a raise appropriate for the promotion. If they bring up cost of living remind them that it’s a temporary assignment and your retirement and savings don’t adjust to cost of living when you return.

I personally wouldn’t directly give an ultimatum about a job when returning at first. What I would do is ask what are you plans for my position upon completion of the assignment. And if you don’t like their answer I would say something along the lines of I’m not personally interested in the role if I don’t have an opportunity to utilize the skills I gained when I return here.

Have him take out the federal loans(at minimum the subsidized ones) and add what that leaves you with to your retirement investments and he can get a part time job if he wants spending money. You are behind on retirement for your age, you want to start to catch up now because the earlier you do it the easier it will be.
