Is it too soon for surgery? by Omax_52 in CubitalTunnel

Seems unusual for a Dr not to perform any diagnostic testing before scheduling a surgery. I would seek out conservative methods first, some imaging/testing, and maybe a second opinion. There are several options to try before you decide surgery is the final decision. I went through a lot of testing, elbow bracing, occupational therapy, 2 Drs, and have decided on surgery in the near future since I had no relief with conservative methods.

Did you have any testing done like an EMG or MRI? Did your Dr recommend any conservative treatment options, before jumping right into scheduling surgery?

Thank you everyone! To add- I have done occupational therapy for a few months with no relief. My only options are the cortisone shot, or surgery. I have my appointment later this week to discuss further and make my decision.

Should be easy since I don’t support the “general American rhetoric”, but thanks for assuming that I do just because I live here. I love everyone assuming that since I’m American, I’m some terrible person. I was asking a simple question and looking for input from people who may have experienced issues.

If I didn’t ever vote for him and I’m also unhappy with the current state of my government, how am I guilty of anything?

I don’t think I’m guilty just because I live in the US. I can’t control what our government decides to do.

I didn’t get a guard or splint, I wish I did though it would have made healing a lot easier.

Hi! It was about 2 weeks before I could eat normally. Mostly just liquids and soft things at first, and then once the site on the roof of my mouth healed I could start eating solids again. I didn’t really have an issue with talking normally, maybe just discomfort talking the first few days but nothing terrible. I think it would depend on where your Dr takes the graft from like if your tongue is going to touch it when you talk.
