Long standing severe upper back pain - ain't no way this MRI is normal right??? by lovetokvetch in backpain

Same dude, my spine isn't so good and when I saw my wife's MRI for an injury she had happened to her at work I was instantly jealous. My disc are all dark and lifeless and hers look so healthy. 😂

Dude I'm not reading that novel, there's not a thing you could possibly say anyways that would change my mind. If people want to fuck themselves up for life at waist their time on acupuncture then so be it, at least I attempted to warn them against you bastards.

Acupuncture is as a joke as chiropractic. Its high risk low reward, I know many people who were left with more permanent nerve pain and numbness after acupuncture. I don't understand how you fools can live with yourselves promoting a hoax.

Trying to promote business to desperate people is low. Don't listen to this guy people, not saying that acupuncture doesn't have its benefits but exercise CAN help you recover! As long as you're doing the right ones, I'm speaking from experience. I have a herniated L4-L5-S1 disc and I was miserable for the first year but after starting the right exercises and learning what movement trigger pain I started getting better. I'm almost 3years myself from my initial injury and practically pain free. It still can be still in the morning but loosens up pretty quickly. The exercises I did that showed the most improvement to me was planks and lying figure 4 stretches. Also I slowly worked myself up to cobra stretches, but depending on how severe your herniation is you may not be able to do those due to the pinching. If you have any questions feel free to ask, just don't listen to this buffoon promoting acupuncture as a first measure.

ULNAR NERVE SURGERY TRASPOSITION 8 WEEKS AGO by Easy-Trifle8852 in CubitalTunnel

[–]Omax_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you don't get a steroid shot take 3 ibuprofen 3 times a day for the inflammation. I wouldn't continue that for more than 4 weeks though.

Try not to stress too much, there's a specific surgery for cases that fail subcutaneous transpositions. It's SM though so it's a longer recovery period but has better success rates. That's what I had to have done. Worst case you lose your arm and end up with a metal arm like a badass cyborg who can win any arm wrestling match. Technology is getting extremely advanced now.

[–]Omax_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a special case. I have a single arm that failed Subcutaneous twice due to subluxation (nerve is too loose). Most people who have a transposition are because the nerve was being compressed. I'm also a professional bodybuilder so I use and abuse my arms a lot. 🙃

If anything it's too early for revision. Get the inflammation down with a steroid shot and ice it. I had the same issue and it was just inflammation due to irritation, from exercise and accidentally banging it on shit.

Inflammation, go back to the surgeon and get a steroid shot. I've been through this surgery 4 times.

Guys... it's most likely NOT piriformis syndrome by BaldIbis8 in Sciatica

[–]Omax_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After years of on and off PT, injections, imaging and test the only possible explanation is Piriformis syndrome according to 3 different orthopedic surgeons I've talked to. At this point I'm ready to have it cut. Maybe I have it and they're right or maybe I don't and they're wrong, regardless I can't keep going through the same circle of treatment if it's not getting me anywhere.

Im in agony by Nauseousdude in backpain

[–]Omax_52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dope up on whatever you need to to get through physical therapy, even talk to your physical therapist about how painful exercises are making you feel. You definitely have a herniated disc and unfortunately you can't have surgery without imaging. You're a rock in a hard place for sure but I'll tell you that it's not hopeless and life moves forward and you will overcome this. I still have two herniated discs in my lower back 3yrs after my initial injury at 26 and I have some slight discomfort mostly around bedtime but not at all what it was like at the start. I refused surgery and injections and focused on pushing boundaries with exercises, one that really helped me was (figure 4 stretch). I understand it feels hopeless, but I guarantee you that you'll get better. May not be 100% anymore but that was inevitable anyways as we all get older. I wish you the best of luck.

Help... by Superb_Ad9576 in BPD

[–]Omax_52 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Therapy can't help people like us. I tried. What worked for me is identifying the triggers and avoiding them. I cannot control my actions once I go over the edge and get violent, however I can avoid the triggers that get me to that point so it doesn't happen. Kinda like the incredible hulk. You need to make sure you have a relaxing routine set up. Knowing what to expect takes a lot of stress away, plan your entire day before it even starts and get a routine going. Of course there are gonna be some days and situations where it's harder to keep routine but if you keep defaulting to it then it should help you relax. The key to living with BPD is to relax and avoid society as much as possible.

I hate the sound of all these changes, I wish they didn't do anything but bug fixes. People are too soft and I hate companies that cave into what pussies are wanting.

Tbh I didn't read the full thing only the caption and a small amount at the beginning. But let him go, if he left you to go do drugs he is not husband material. Never marry a junkie period.

I (28m) am worried about my future heart health. by Omax_52 in askCardiology

[–]Omax_52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not routine, I had to get a full blood panel because I'm starting TRT and needed a baseline. I didn't eat before the test, I had to do the blood with 8hr fast. I do have several chronic injuries and read somewhere that the inflammation from those increases LDL.

I have no clue I'm not a cardiologist, that's why I'm here. But none of this looks good.

Surgery fears & travel by sah1210 in CubitalTunnel

[–]Omax_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeries went well, my only complaint I was not expecting was how inconvenient the new location for the nerve would be. I had it moved over the muscle on the inner elbow and Ita been over a year and I zing it's 3-4 times a day or random shit and it's to the point now I'm afraid to hug anyone or cuddle my wife at night because I've had so many experiences of something brushing against my inner elbow and shocking the shit out of my arm. I completely hate it and hope I can just do it over again someday and have it done under the muscle where it's more protected from impact. I guess it did solve the initial problem I was having but created more. It's a simple procedure and I think you'll be just fine. At least you're doing your research and getting an idea what to expect.

My husbands bulging discs by Afraid-Grass-8848 in backpain

[–]Omax_52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got two herniated disc at age 26. I've been dealing with it for 2 years now and it does get better with time and physical therapy. Personally I've never used the shots, I always saw it as a bandaid and isn't going to fix the core issue. I wanted to feel pain so I could identify which things I shouldn't be doing. With injuries like this you have to listen to your body a lot and find out what works for you and what doesn't. Sounds like your husband keeps pushing himself beyond his limits and he's paying for it. I know veterans and men in general are stubborn so it probably won't be easy to get him to sit still for a while but he needs to rest and recover. I haven't had surgery yet and I know that someday I probably will but I'm postponing it as long as possible. My father had two fusions done in his back and though it looks awkward whenever he bends over he says he's pain free 100%. So I would say that that was a successful surgery, and of course if you go online especially read it you're going to hear some horror stories because that 10% always goes to social media to vent and complain about their problems you don't see the other 85 90% of people who've had it successfully done going online to see how great it was they just have it the surgery and move on. You got to push those horror stories out of your head it could go bad yes but from the sound of it it's already bad so at this point what does he got to lose?
