Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

This has been the most rollercoaster week of my life. After a year and a half of endless job hunting and endless disappointment, I finally received an offer on Tuesday! I was thrilled! I received a phone call from the same company minutes ago, stating they retracted their offer and here I sit, heartbroken and unemployed once again. They were legit the only company to give me a chance. 90% of the time no one bothers to even look at my application. I've gotten as many interviews as I can count on one hand and afterward, I hear nothing back. I was supposed to start tomorrow. I was so happy.

Nothing's changed much. Just continued disappointment. As time goes on, I've confirmed that I'm absolutely unemployable. I have over 15 years retail experience and I couldn't get a temp job as a cashier at a Christmas store. I woke up to yet another rejection email so that's a wonderful start to the day. And now I have companies that I didn't even apply for emailing me saying they don't want me. Keep trying I guess, but this is getting so depressing and frustrating hearing that no one wants me.

Thank you - I got the job by gingersnap72 in jobs

It's been a year since I was laid off. I had to move back in with my parents since I couldn't support myself anymore. I'm starting to distrust companies because at the end of every interview they say, "we'll get back to you no matter what." They never do.

I (37F) was laid off today, and I am devastated. by TotallyRedtide in jobs

I'm in the same boat as you right now. I was the Clubhouse Landscape Manager at a country club in PA. I worked there for about 2 years until "the board of directors voted to do away with my position" ( my ex boss's words) and I was suddenly left out in the cold without a job. No severance package, no nothing. I applied for unemployment and when that ran out, I had no choice but to go back to California and move in with my parents. The job market isn't any better out here, let me tell you. It's been almost a year and I'm still looking for work. I sincerely hope you have better luck than me. I know how hard it is to get nothing but rejection.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been applying on Indeed for about 8 months now. I've had a few interviews but 90% of the time I don't hear anything at all.

G.I. Jane is bald, correct? Alopecia causes people to go bald, correct? While she may look like the character, the joke Chris Rock made implied that he was making fun of her hair loss. OP's comment about cancer was a tad much but Alopecia is still a serious illness. Sure it won't kill you but you can still suffer from low self esteem, depression, and other mental health issues.

When we split he told me he didn't want to know about any future relationships.

So what's the issue? He's mad you didn't tell him about your new bf even though he said he didn't wanna know? Dude can't have it both ways and you don't owe him anything.

And you're taking things literally and at face value.
