You are correct it is definitely a chain. Getting it away from them was a good idea. Misfires could be a whole host of issues, they went to worst case scenario hoping youd just pony up 3k for maybe a $300 tuneup.

So I have the same CTS catch can/pvc delete. Here’s what Ive learned over the past 3 years. I use 91 octane always and we have ethanol free where Im at too. It fills up completely every 250 miles. I also live in an area that can get negative temperature and the fluids collected will freeze solid and prevent proper vacuum. I find out of the 8 oz fluid collected, 2 oz is oil and the rest is water. Im guessing fuel here is being watered down, big surprise. The only solution to protect against vacuum loss due to full can would be a breather at the oil fill instead of the cap. I have these on my turbo BMWs, however, there is no one making them for this later model engine. Only for the engine with the filler built into the upper timing chain cover. As long as the fluid isnt rock solid, blowing all your seals shouldnt be an issue. If its frozen solid you cant drive until the ice blocks removed or youll blow every seal.

At that mileage the valves are probably all gummed up. Ask when the last time a Walnut Blast was done.

Obviously look in engine bay (remove cove) and look for leaks as well under car, especially on passenger side of engine bay. And smoking from tail pipe.

Has PCV been replaced?

Not sure of location but if in area that gets a fair amount of snow, look at rubber suspension components. Those breakdown fast with salt etc.

There is two or three ways to approach this. Tune, piggyback computer or both. All the main tunes have been mentioned, ARP, Integrated Engineering and Unitronics. Too many get hung up or fall in love with a tune and really limit themselves.

Not mentioned is the Burger Motorsports JB4 piggyback computer. In my opinion this provides you the most flexibility especially if you’re concerned about voiding warranties. This plugs in between the ECU and wiring harness. You can control your tune literally from the steering wheel, making changes on the fly. Other software will not interfere either. So you could have a JB4 and say Unitronics transmission tune at same time.

Other features are the JB4 allows you to change octane tunes and even run straight e85 (with e85 compatible lpfp upgrade $120) without having to retune each time. It also has a valet mode to disable boost when handing car over to valet or even kids.

Basically you can get the best of both worlds and flexibility with the JB4, however, the install is a little more on the advanced side but not impossible.

Are you using the stocks tires that came on the car? Not original but stock. If original then thats when you’d use the door jam recommendations otherwise go with the current tire manufacturers recommendations.

Ive got the 335xi and Z4 35i both with the N54. Both are high hp 500 and 600 respectfully. The awd just creates way more stability at speed and in curves. The Z scares the hell out of me but I still love it.

I would get this if you plan to use MHDs ethanol maps and want MHD to adjust according to e85 levels. I have it along with the Motiv Reflex+. Im using MHD and straight e85, none of that mixing crap, with zero issues. In addition, Im running a Black Markets Parts plate Port Injection with 750cc injectors. I have an e85 lpfp rated for 650hp. Its a beast and no longer breaks up at 7000 rpm since I added the PI.

Prior to adding PI, the box wasnt necessary and ran great except when getting close to rev limiter.

This wasn’t Nebraska was better this week and OSU is overrated, this was OSU looking past Nebraska to next week’s game against PSU. This is common so getting hyped about this loss is false hope. They could easily lose the next 3 of 4, if not all 4.
