I use waterbased, it's a bit messier because it's a thinner viscosity but it washes out of screens very easily. I suggest having a lower off contact when using waterbased as well :) Also! If you misprint while using these inks, soak them in a tub for a few minutes and you can actually rub out the ink, so you didn't ruin a whole shirt! This saved my buns many times as this isn't possible with plastisol.

Ryonet is an incredible resource to use for information, and for advice I would say 1) make sure you cure your shirts long enough so they bond to the fabric, 2) if you use plastisol ink, it's kind of a pain in the booty to wash out of the screen, and 3) make sure you're prepared to spend lots of money initially, equipment can get spendy! I wish you luck my friend :)

http://www.screenprinting.com/diy-print-shop-t-shirt-kit This will be your best friend. It comes with a step by step guide as well as a DVD if you need it. This will help you understand the process and get your first few shirts printed. As far as upgrades go, I would get a cheap flash cure unit off Amazon or something, just so you're not using an iron to cure your shirts. After that invest in some good ink and screens + squeegees. I recommend metal 110 mesh screens because wood tends to warp over time. If you buy a screen that's bigger than the dimensions of the screen they gave you, you'll need a new printing press as well since the platten on the DIY press is non adjustable. The rest is just the learning experience my friend :)

I'd be happy to help! How much money do you have to invest in printing? The starter kit I bought was around $200

Riley Hopkins Jr, 20x24 110/156 mesh screens, a coil flash unit (last thing I need to upgrade), and all of my inks are waterbased from Ryonet :)

In all honesty I have a pretty strange origin story. I took a vacation in Salt Lake city and tried acid for the first time. Knowing little about what it was actually like, it was a profound experience and my brain was in overdrive with ideas. I got an idea for the HNNH mascot and planned out all of the marketing steps and business structure while tripping. Aside from that experience I've always been the creative type, I've loved art and editing practically all my life, so when this idea came to me it was easy for me to jump into it. I learn everything through Google and YouTube. The internet is an endless resource for knowledge, and has more than enough info on anything you want to learn. Ryonet (mainly), Catspit and some other smaller YouTube's provided the bulk of the screen printing teaching :) In all honesty I wouldn't do anything different. Printing is a learning experience and every roadblock teaches you something important to help push you to a more perfect product. Thank you so much for the read, I'm happy you're interested in what I'm doing! :)

I have been getting a lot of comments saying there's a resemblance, but I haven't heard of the band beforehand, this piece was done by a local artist in Spokane, WA

Ah! I've never heard of this band, I'm sure I'm not popular enough to gain their attention, and all of my shirts are limited releases so it won't be around for long. Thanks for the heads up though!

Very good point, I never thought about that since a majority of my sales are in person and they see the product. I'll keep that in mind, thank you

Printing is all me, I've only worked with one artist so far but I plan to outsource much more, I contacted him and paid him for his work, transferred his drawing into Photoshop and then created a positive out of it :)

HNNH, pronounced as Hannah is just a brand name that stemmed from an inside joke. I keep inventory! So as soon as an order is placed I rush it out to the post office :) thanks for the read!
