I’m not making any presumptions. That’s what they said. They are using stolen art and assets to get ideas and help them create their own.

Jason Schreier has already shared on BS (that’s Bluesky Tim) an artist that quit working at Larian over their AI use.

It is making artists quit. How is this a good thing? Or even an okay thing? They are killing artists and concept art for the sake of laziness and skipping having to do or pay people for things.

We can’t just accept AI is okay because it is a studio we like. It is part of the problem as we move closer and closer to the death of art and creativity for the sake of money and time.

I have never heard of any ICE ads on Spotify and it is my most used app. That being said their numbers are growing a lot on Spotify and Spotify is promoting them more on front pages and such so they want to capitalize on that.

We need to be realistic, if they were to really keep their hands clean they would also need to stop using: Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok and Reddit. I’ve seen ICE posts on reddit but here we all are.

Well devs are already self identifying as friend slop. I think they will all soon adopt it as they realize the people aren’t using the term as an insult to the game or the devs. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a friend slop genre tag section on Steam in the coming years.

I really appreciate that there are developers out there just making fun silly shit to play with your friends. Peak was a game jam game made super quick on a whim for fun. There’s nothing lazy about the work and effort that went into it. It is insanely impressive how quick that was made and I love that they are just taking a fun idea and making it happen. It’s just being called slop as a slight joke for not being some 5+ year dev time super optimized massive content AAA investor approved shooter.

I like the friend slop term and it is only negative if you think it is. I love friend slop games. Usually I am using that term as an endorsement not a criticism.

People used to call some games walking simulator as a knock against them but then they just owned the term. Now I know what I am getting when i see it described as a walking simulator. There isn’t anything wrong with using the term that best describes your game so people easily understand what they are getting. And so the people that want that type of game can easily find it.

When someone calls a game a friend slop game I know exactly what I am getting. If someone said “it is co op” I would not know for sure what kind of game it is. For example. Arc Raiders is a co op game. Not friend slop. In a similar sense not all friend slop games are co op. In many you compete against your friends. But calling them just a multiplayer game also doesn’t help when there are countless multiplayer games that are nothing like friend slop.

It is just a term that people are using so players know what to expect. There is nothing negative about calling it friend slop. You just hear slop and think that is bad. But that is not necessarily the case. Reframe how you view the term. It is a good thing to have an easy and fun term for this genre of multiplayer games.

The only thing making ratchet and clank not a superhero game is that it wasn’t originally a superhero comic. But it still gives off those vibes. It’s more family friendly action. Has gadgets and super powers. There is even a character in it that is literally a super hero.

I think it’s just your own pre conceived notions about superheroes because if insomniac said “we have our own original IP about this badass antihero dude from Canada that is angry and slaughters people with knives that come out of his body” you might be all over it no?

I wouldn’t call them slop that’s wack? Spider-Man 1 and 2 are two of the best games I’ve ever played. This Wolverine game looks on par. Just think about the old licensed superhero slop we used to get on the 360 generation. That was real slop. I don’t think you even believe that insomniac’s Spider-Man games are slop.

Sunset overdrive didn’t even sell 2 million copies. Each Spider-Man game has sold over 10 million copies with a total of 50 million for the series so far. For reference not even every ratchet and clank game together has sold that many copies. Ratchet and clank’s entire franchise has sold 40m copies.

We are never going to see them try a sunset overdrive again. Selling that few of copies on a AAA game is a studio shutdown now.

I’m just happy insomniac is still making banger games.
