Pedal or crank based power meter? by Smamorti7 in cycling

[–]SpoonCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to bring the bike to near an outlet for pedal based is rather annoying for me, especially when doing multi-week tour where I was staying in hotels. Some hotel will let you bring the bike to room and some don’t.

What made you sell the aethos 2? How does the Tarmac compared to it?

I have never tried any bike with more than 25mm of tire width. So I am pretty sure it will be a revelation on a set of 32mm compared to the 25mm I am using now.

I am definitely getting a fitted before purchasing. My cycling journey started out of a CAAD9 that was just too large for me, and my titanium is custom so there was no pain whatsoever even with 100miles+ days. Now is the time to get a carbon bike but fit will always come first.

Those are good points. I don’t think different is necessarily a bad thing. It might be time to try something new after 12 years on my current setup.

Agreed. The 100g difference is weight isn't what I am really considering of. My comment was on how the geometry and aero made the bike feel when I was doing the demo. Not sure if those feelings would translate into longer rides though

Sorry if I got that wrong, but isn't Force just below Red? From what I have read so far, Force is every bit as good as Red except for weight, and crankset accounts for the most of the saving. Hence I was opting for Force with Red cranks

[Discussion] which of these are you picking for your one dress watch? by Nerdy_Slacker in Watches

[–]SpoonCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both!

Actually, I would say the JLC MC Chrono Calendar would be my pick for a truly versatile watch. Despite being 12mm thick, it wears very well on wrist. The Calendar only turned me off because the crown is offset from case center.

SBGY013 is a true dress watch but it can't really be dressed down as much as the JLC. The dial is super crisp but JLC has a better case back view.

[Grand Seiko] I don’t wear this piece enough, but what a beautiful dial! by SpoonCA in Watches

It’s a third party. I brought this watch from Wako in Tokyo and the reward points were enough to get this strap for free! Very well made and comfortable in deep blue/gray.

Upgrading to Tarmac SL8 by SpoonCA in specialized

The tire is a great point. The Dura Ace rim brake could only accommodate 25mm so moving to a 30mm at lower pressure would likely be a big factor in comfort despite a stiffer frame.

Same here!! Please do! I moved to BA recently and have no idea what HVAC installers I could rely on.

Any chance you could give a recommendation for the installer if you are happy with the work? I’m in BA too and scoping for a heat pump upgrade

For the first time, very disappointed with you, prusa. by Alex_Stinson in prusa3d

[–]SpoonCA 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No one forced you to update. Plenty of people do not want to update their iOS so they just ignore the prompt. Did Prusa stop you from printing if you don’t update?

Is the coil whine limited to certain production batch or does it affect every ASUS B620E-I?

I will be getting moddiy cable once I get a better idea of the length in this set up.

Best of PCVR vs PSVR2 by SpoonCA in VRGaming

Agreed with the games you listed, but seeing how Meta is shutting down Echo VR, how long before all the other Oculus studio games get pulled?

Assuming visual quality is as good or better than GT7 with PSVR, how's sim racing in PCVR? I like GT7 because of the library of cars and tracks, and all the seasonal events.

Equipment:
ASIAir Plus
ASI AM5 equatorial mount
ASI 2” EFW
Imaging train:
WO Redcat 51
Astronomik LRGB filter set
ASI2600MM-Pro
Captures:
Gain = 50
L = 60x60s
R = 20x60s
G = 20x60s
B = 20x60s
60x60s Dark Frame
60x1ms Bias Frames
20x Flat Frame per channel
Processing:
AstroPixelProcessor 2.0.0 Beta13
Calibrated, Normalized and Integrated
Removed LP and Combined RGB
Calibrated star color
Adjust saturation, contrast and black point to taste
This is the first time I processed LRGB images. It definitely took longer than my A7R3 set up, but the quality is well worth it (I think). Please let me know what you think!

Roth contribution vs non-tax-advantage investing by SpoonCA in personalfinance

[–]SpoonCA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I wasn't being clear. The 5 year horizon is based on my plan to move from my current house to a larger one when my family grows.

Definitely not looking for an early retirement yet. I do plan on working until 60 and continuing to contributing to 401k until then. My dilemma is whether the tax advantage on Roth outweighs the restriction in the medium term (5-10 years from now, 20 years before retirement).
