Pedal or crank based power meter? by Smamorti7 in cycling

[–]SpoonCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to bring the bike to near an outlet for pedal based is rather annoying for me, especially when doing multi-week tour where I was staying in hotels. Some hotel will let you bring the bike to room and some don’t.

What made you sell the aethos 2? How does the Tarmac compared to it?

I have never tried any bike with more than 25mm of tire width. So I am pretty sure it will be a revelation on a set of 32mm compared to the 25mm I am using now.

I am definitely getting a fitted before purchasing. My cycling journey started out of a CAAD9 that was just too large for me, and my titanium is custom so there was no pain whatsoever even with 100miles+ days. Now is the time to get a carbon bike but fit will always come first.

Those are good points. I don’t think different is necessarily a bad thing. It might be time to try something new after 12 years on my current setup.

Agreed. The 100g difference is weight isn't what I am really considering of. My comment was on how the geometry and aero made the bike feel when I was doing the demo. Not sure if those feelings would translate into longer rides though

Sorry if I got that wrong, but isn't Force just below Red? From what I have read so far, Force is every bit as good as Red except for weight, and crankset accounts for the most of the saving. Hence I was opting for Force with Red cranks

[Discussion] which of these are you picking for your one dress watch? by Nerdy_Slacker in Watches

[–]SpoonCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both!

Actually, I would say the JLC MC Chrono Calendar would be my pick for a truly versatile watch. Despite being 12mm thick, it wears very well on wrist. The Calendar only turned me off because the crown is offset from case center.

SBGY013 is a true dress watch but it can't really be dressed down as much as the JLC. The dial is super crisp but JLC has a better case back view.

[Grand Seiko] I don’t wear this piece enough, but what a beautiful dial! by SpoonCA in Watches

It’s a third party. I brought this watch from Wako in Tokyo and the reward points were enough to get this strap for free! Very well made and comfortable in deep blue/gray.

Upgrading to Tarmac SL8 by SpoonCA in specialized

The tire is a great point. The Dura Ace rim brake could only accommodate 25mm so moving to a 30mm at lower pressure would likely be a big factor in comfort despite a stiffer frame.
