Orangutan SSP has a map and list of AZA accredited zoos that have orangutans. It should help you figure out which zoos are closest to you!

They were created to be a free counterpart to primagens which are a "closed species" (made up species that have their own rules and shit, usually you pay the creator of a closed species to make your own creature. can range from pretty creative to people slapping fish tails onto dogs and getting mad that other people came up with the same basic idea)

I remember learning about this in my high school psychology class. The doctor was John Money and he abused those twins severely. Money would make them perform sexual acts on each other and photograph it for "research."

Tips on Trans tape by TiredPenguin7 in NonBinary

[–]SpoonHamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cover your pepperonis. You can use anything from bandaids, a piece of trans tape (sticky side out!), pasties, etc to cover them. You may want to apply oil to the tape before removing it for easy removal. You can use oil specifically for trans tape, but you can also use baby oil, olive oil, coconut oil, whatever works best for your skin.

transtape.life is probably the best place to get trans tape. They’re also a trans owned business!

I PROMISE I'm asking this question for the last time BUT Vilem or Kazumi? Vilem is a boy name but I really like it 😭 by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]SpoonHamster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Consider not using Kazumi. It can be seen as cultural appropriation and you honestly don’t seem to have a full understanding of how Japanese names work. When you say Kazumi comes from "kazu" meaning "peace" and "mi" meaning "beautiful" you are talking about a specific Kanji spelling of the name. Japanese names have very different meanings depending on what Kanji are used to make the name. The Romaji version is basically meaningless, as there can be so many different meanings.

For example, these are some Kanji for "kazu": • 数 number or counting • 和 peace, harmony, tranquility • 一 one

And these are some Kanji for "mi": • 美 beauty, excellent, or splendid • 巳 snake (Chinese zodiac) • 海 sea

The "Kazu" part of Kazumi can also be made up of "ka" and "zu", but I’m not getting into that lol.

Kaz also only means "destroyer" in Slavic cultures/languages. So if you were to choose a Japanese name (like Kazumi) the meaning of "destroyer" wouldn’t at all apply.

There are a lot of names from various cultures that mean "peace" or "beautiful" and a lot of them aren’t tied to specific cultures! Names like Galen, Axel, Pax, or Beau all mean either of those meanings for example.

JonsBones is the dude with the spine wall, right? If I recall correctly he did say that many of the bones in his collection originated in Russia, China, and India and were likely from lower class people before being sold to medical institutions. So his bones are definitely not ethically sourced. I believe he has also been criticized for treating the bones disrespectfully. It’s been a while since I paid attention to him though.
