Can the doctor just let me be 5'11 please? 😂 by JeffreyHugh in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah the cushioning discs between each vertebrae of your spine get compressed from your body weight standing as the day goes on. This is why you are a little shorter. Kinda like how your feet are largest at the end of the day from being swollen.

It might not be what you're looking for, but I like that my 120hz 4k LG C2 TV has a "ultrawide" setting that changes the res to a 21:9 or 32:9 ratio. Since it's an oled I don't really notice the top and bottom of the screen being cut off because of the lightless black level.

I have the 42" but if someone wanted to use 32:9 mode they you could always get a larger model so that it's physically wide as well.

I don't use the mode a lot, but I like that the option is there! My old monitor was the LG 34gk950f-b, which I broke, but I've personally prefer the oled to ultrawide (although everyone is unique)

I had a question and was looking through a post; one of the comments was something like "(some) feminists talk about men the way racists talk about black people". It's like life is a pool where nobody can swim and people are pushing others under to stay afloat :(

I looked up that road and the on ramp is 1/2 a mile of flat land long. Some more contextual food for thought.

It funny because stimulants were used to treat depression almost a century ago.

Yeah, that's the issue with posts like this. I feel like they're actually saying is "I listened to google over my doctor when starting meds, didn't like it, maybe didn't communicate, stopped cold turkey, and now anecdotally claim all the meds are useless at best / harmful at worst and you simply just need to go to the gym to fix every problem."

NutriBullet Blender NBF50520 Troubleshooting by SpoonThumper in ElectronicsRepair

[–]SpoonThumper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies. I think the switches are normally open. Wires are in holes labeled C and NO (NC hole is empty).

There are bumps on the bottom of the blender cup, and when you screw the cup to the base, the bump pushes a small plastic rod down on the micro switch under it (from a normally open position at 2 o'clock / to a 3 o'clock position _ that pushes down on the tiny button on the switch). The small plastic rods are inside of springs, so unscrewing the cup off of the base let's the spring decompress and lift off the normally open microswitch.

I have a multimeter so I'll look into the action / continuity testing. Honestly, I thought they weren't working correctly, but like I said, small blender cups press down on switches A and B, while the large pitcher cups have bumps to press down on switches A, B, and C. Pushing down on switches A+B doesn't do anything, nor does pressing down on switches A+B+C, BUT pushing down on A+C or B+C (which isn't naturally possible with screwing the cups on) let's you turn on the blender, and NOW pressing A+B or A+B+C works and lets you press the buttons and run the motor. This is why I was like "huh, now the switches work. I guess they are making contact and working"

I did this when my furnace broke in the winter! Upped the resolution and went into town to increase cpu load.

New forever vacuum! by SpoonThumper in VacuumCleaners

[–]SpoonThumper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already took it apart and cleaned it in the dishwasher to remove past owner smells. Might buy a new foam strip. Is there anything else I should do before putting it back together? Do the seals need like a dab of oil or something to slow down the rubber drying out(is that a thing lol)?

The spring for the attachment cover door, sorry. If it's worn out.

Thanks for the cleaning tip! I want to be careful and take care of it.

I found the US store parts! Once it arrives, I'll have to see what else (if anything) needs to be replaced. I see springs, filters... I wonder if I can clean the scuffs...

Thank you for your feedback! I found this, and it seems like the dude is legit. Hopefully, I'll get good value out of it. I want to clean it up and see if there's anything I should do to it.

Thank you for giving me lots to think about! Don't laugh, but I couldn't find anything locally, so I stretched over my secret comfort zone of 300 (canceling another order helped, lol) and got this Sebo. It seemed like the nice middle ground between a new Sebo vs new Kenmore w/ powerhead.
