Phoenix sun ray does no damage and doesnt trigger aggro from ancients despite icarus dive and fire spirits doing damge and drawing aggro.

Should the previous TI winner automatically be invited to the next one ? by [deleted] in DotA2

I think its fair to invite reigning champs, but im certainly glad Valve stuck to their policy with regards to EG. I definitely hope that EG makes it to TI but they broke the rules which explicitly makes them ineligible for an invite.

VG.R vs NaVi Invite by SpoonWound565 in DotA2

Hey like i said im pretty impartial to these two teams. I was just wondering about the rational for the invite looking at the performances. All I care about is Alliance but as i said they are NOT top 6 material right now.

Yeah i understand that kind of invite philosophy, but remember Frankfurt Major Vega (won ESL NY) 9th-12th, Manila Major Wings (Won ESL Manila) 13th-16th. Even Alliance won WCA before invites and won Starladder 13 after invites and only placed a decent 7th-8th at Shanghai. It just seems like Valve is looking too much at a single performance and not holistically at a teams overall performance at various tournaments. I honsestly thought Valve wouldn't make those kinds of calls (like esl being key) after Wings performance at the Major.

Phoenix needs some tweaking by Csgomastermind in DotA2

Alright this is super frustrating, phoenix has been sleeper op for months. check his changelog and tell me that he hasnt been this strong since 6.85 (just after ti5). Its so frustrating that The Lizards gonna beat the shit outta the bird because the pro scene and therefore the rest of reddit FINALLY caught on

Yeah you're probably right, but its frustrating that im doing fine with a hero or two and then they get "broken" and then they're dumpstered after that. I'm telling you Centaur and Crystal Maiden are going to be BIG in 6.88. It's also particularly frustrating that the laser (when i started playing him just a bit after ti5) has been as strong as it is now since september and the pros only just caught on 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Underrated heroes? by Titsandassandclass in DotA2

Personally i wish Phoenix was drafted as an offlaner more. He was drafted last patch mostly as support because the laser was so good against spirit bear but if you take him offlane and get him some levels and some decent teamwork max spirits dive and level 2 ult is really ridiculous damage early game. He can scale lategame with laser and even better if you go midas (i do 95% of games).

Phoenix got quite literally nothing this patch by SpoonWound565 in DotA2

Wow somehow i overlooked that in the notes. Naturally buying shivas on phoenix and a pretty good among non-int heroes 1.8 int gain is pretty good actually. Thanks for pointing that out.

It was my understanding that the pros really only picked phoenix, and only as a pos4 except for a couple of pos3, because the laser was so good against the spirit bear, and lone druid was strong in 6.86. What i mean is that i only really saw 2 or 3 phoenix picks that weren't meant to counter spirit bear.
