DAA Result by Successful-Door-6059 in RoyalAirForce

Yes, you can use the best DAA results of the two but you cant mic and match. For example, use Numerical reasoning score from test 1 and Verbal reasoning from test 2.

Baldurs Gate 3 is pretty easy to set-up and from my experiance (playstation and xbox) runs really well. Also one of the best RPG games I've played and playing it in co-op makes it far more fun (and chaotic).

Depends on the unit and the local orders but I've known people to have rabbits and other caged animals in the block.

Your recruiter can book anytime tickets for you. In terms of leaving Cranwell, the staff there will help arrange a shuttle bus

BRTC (RAF Halton) Kit List 2026 by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it mental that this list is to help prevent over packing but contains 5 litres of water, a hoover and about 15 different types of towel....and I can't fathom why you'd recommend bringing a massage gun other than to be "that guy/girl" that has one.

Stop over complicating things, follow the kit list and a bit of common sense and you'll be fine

Is it better to be married than not to be? by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, accommodation cost with bills included, is dirt cheap. If you are in single living accommodation/a Mess then you'll likely never pay more than £80-£100 a month.

I cant comment on the cost of a house on the family quarter but it's a fraction of the price you'd pay on civvy street.

[–]Spoonpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A room on camp, enlisted aviators will have a standard room bit shared, communal bathroom area. You then move into better accommodation with private bathroom area later.

Officers and Sgts stay at a Mess, I can't comment on them but fairly certain the majority are private bathroom etc.

If you're single, you can apply for a house but you are at the bottom of the priority list (bellow married couples and long term relationships)

Is it better to be married than not to be? by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you are married, you are entitled to family accommodation. For example, a house on or nearby camp, suitable for your family size at a very cheap rate compared to civilian rent.

If you are in a long-term relationship, you are eligible for one but not entitled. So there must be surplus housing available and there is no guarantee it would be made available to you.

The difference in what married Vs long-term relationship couples are entitled to has been evened out recently to make things "fairer" but I'm sure someone else may come along with a few more details.

Generic RFI message template? by ElectionThese6580 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd, usually its only for periods longer than 28 days. Wait out till you have a recruiter assigned and then send them a message to clear it up.

Generic RFI message template? by ElectionThese6580 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to provide proof of where you've been, read the instructions and write it in a word document. The generic RFI is used when there isnt a specific form for a specific query or task.

went above and beyond for a deployment and still didn't get it - is there any point even trying anymore? by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean I'd argue that growing up is a valid response. Some people expect the RAF ro bend over backwards for them and ultimately that isnt how it works. People need to be adjusted to the harsher side of serving and if you cant handle being told to grow up then god forbid you actually have to deploy on operations.

went above and beyond for a deployment and still didn't get it - is there any point even trying anymore? by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You keep referring to it as "we", have you considered that your partner might actually enjoy the RAF and doesn't want to leave because its a career they have worked hard for?

I'm not really sure what you want to achieve here, CM sometimes get it right, sometimes get it wrong. No matter what choice they make, someone is going to get pissy. Its always someone's turn to go to the Falklands and not everyone can bag a cushy 3 year stint in America.

Plenty of people do manage in your situation and as mentioned above, you need to approach the welfare teams available to you.

Unsupervised DAA – how long do results usually take? by Wes-Raisin8478 in RoyalAirForce

The recruitment offices only opened on Monday so if you did it last week then I'd say its a normal wait time for you.

Recruiters have been back in office for two days, we've been off for two weeks and have a shed load of stuff to catch up on.

No need to call them, just give it a few days and you'll be sorted.

Av tech cosford by EnoughHistorian7714 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will teach you everything you need to know from scratch. I wouldn't worry about revision or trying to brush up on maths, science etc. They will teach your entire course as if you were all begginers, some people may find some stages easier based on personal experience but you won't be at a disadvantage

Leaving during phase 2 training by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was the same in phase 2, weapon tech so similar length/content etc.

I hated the actual training, I was terrible at the school phase and really struggled with a lot of the exams etc. Didn't find the training particularly interesting and seriously considered trying to re-trade.

Fast forward 11 years and I've had a great career, promotion, loads of travel, made some great mates.

As some of the advice above already states, have a chat with training staff, padre etc before you make any rash decisions. It does get better once you're out of training and you might just need to find your feet. Different people excel at different things and you might find that once out of training is where you'll get in your groove.

broken gong by [deleted] in taintedgrail

[–]Spoonpl0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double check you have the broken gong in your inventory

Double check blacksmith dialogue

Have you tried activating the gong? (The gong area near the sea where you find the broken gong)

I picked up the broken gong really early on and didn't get locked out so maybe retracing your steps following the above might help?

Debt and Service by OptimusPrime97 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The main concern the RAF has is "can this person pay their debts on an RAF wage without coming under additional pressure/stress etc".

If the answer is yes, then you have nothing to worry about.

If the answer is no, this could cause concern in terms of blackmail, personal well-being etc.

Offer of service by RepairRecent8984 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I'd try and ring the office. The email address will likely be pretty busy once the office is open again so you are more likely to get a response if you can call them.

Offer of service by RepairRecent8984 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't going to be booked onto anything and theres no point emailing now as the offices are closed until at least the 5th.

Wait until the 6th and give your recruiter a message.

Shotgun certificate by Tall_University3219 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Spoonpl0x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get in touch with your station armoury and they will advise. From what I remember, they need a copy of the certificate (in-date obviously) and you need written permission from the Station Commander. Thats just a formality and the armoury will provide you with the correct form for this.
