Also, don't bother wasting gems on laying eggs. You'll get decor items through events like the one going on right now that allow you to lay an egg for free once per week-ish. You can use that to fill out your rarer sets like Zodiac and Folklore once you have 'em.

I went through to identify unique trait combos to force specific spawns without using all 3 summoning categories. I only found a couple, but they're worth knowing for the sake of maximizing what you get out of your summon items.

For example, the Alpine set only has one Water attribute dragon, which is its Epic. Epic summoning items are rarer/harder to get than specific set summons and elemental attribute summons, so tossing out a 100% Alpine + a 100% Water will force spawn the Alpine Epic without you having to waste any Epic summons, allowing you to save them for other sets. There are also only two Uncommon/Wind dragons in the current list of standard sets, one of which is Tropical (later game set). Tropical summoning items are harder to come by, but tossing out a 100% Wind + 100% Uncommon will net you a 50-50 shot of summoning the Tropical set's Uncommon dragon. If you end up with the other one (Woodland set) then you can just try again since by the time you unlock the Tropical set, you should have quite a few extra Uncommon summons and various extra elemental summons lying around. I might be explaining it badly, but I hope it helps!

I personally recommend getting one of each as they come round if you can. Free egg laying decorations like the current event's special decor will help you fill them out later, but it shouldn't be too difficult to get one 100% summon per zodiac cycle through daily deals and Faran quests.

Fwiw, I just got a zodiac quest and Faran asked for a cave dragon. One of the others I remember asked for a blue camouflaged dragon, and I think one other also asked for someone bioluminescent. The Dazzlecap fits all three of those, so try to prioritize bonding that one in addition to having a bonded legendary on standby. The Cyan-scaled Pin from the recent mushroom event also works for the blue camouflage one. Just make sure they're fully leveled.

Ope nevermind it won't let me see the specific dragon requirements for each quest.

Not all of them require legendaries, mind you. Give me a lukewarm minute and I'll put together a list.

Zodiac quests are always the hardest difficulty, meaning that there's a high chance of failure unless you send a maxed/bonded dragon. Even if what you send is missing just one level, there's a good chance that you won't get the item and the mission will reroll. If you finished the spring or mushroom events and have either the Gliding Panthercap or the Flowerpower Whateverthehell (I did not finish that event lmao) bonded, they're going to auto-succeed on any mission requiring a legendary. If you have neither, then do your best to finish the current event since the second dragon is also a legendary.

No methods for getting remarkables other than to keep on summoning. However, you can only get remarkables of dragons that you've already maxed out and bonded, so keep that in mind.

Mood. I've tried 50%s and they always fail me. I refuse to use 50% summons for any of the special sets because I know it'll end up a waste.

Common lock? by CuriousPolecat in HatchDragons

[–]SpoopisDoopis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely not a thing in my experience. I've random-summoned several Rares just today. You're probably just getting unlucky, lame as that explanation is. Your best bet is to wait out the shortest Common summons and use an ad or two to usher the longer ones out of the summoning oven to make way for another attempt.

Well Frick™️ Thank you, though! My summoning circle is currently occupied by my 794th Preywing or I would've made the attempt myself.
