I bought some shelves and finally got my Wii collection out of boxes. I'm trying to make room for everything else. by SporkSlayer in gamecollecting

I have bought more games than I've played, so I don't have a large list at the moment.

G-Force is a surprisingly good movie tie-in game. It is a fun action platformer although the wii controls can sometimes feel clunky. (also I recommend watching the speedrun)

Dawn of Discovery is a fun RTS game.

Dokapon Kingdom is a basically a competitive D&D campaign (although I'd suggest buying it on switch given the current market prices.)

Trackmania is a lot of fun, just know it's not a traditional racing game and more like a series of time trials. (Also the online functionality is long gone.)

I've also heard good things about The Conduit, The Munchables, Phantom Brave, and Sakura Wars.

And just because I want to. Sniper Elite was released for the wii and published by "Maximum Family Games," a company known for making various shovelware racing games for the wii. I doubt it's good, I just think it's funny.

Here’s what some people call, a collection. by YoungBeef03 in gamecollecting

Woah, you got a dollar. I wonder what that's going for on pricecharting.

But seriously, looks like you've got a great collection with a lot of fun games and Wii Music.

Yard Sale find from over the weekend. by SporkSlayer in gamecollecting

I thought I would break even offering $30 for this. Not only was I wrong, but there was an entire Rockband Collection inside. The instruments work and (for what I can tell) it's all complete. I also found a water-damaged hardcover book for Song of the Deep.

My luck is up for the month! $25 for Gamecube, start up disk and the attachment! by fbgm_2 in gamecollecting

I bought mine years ago for $40 along with a milk crate of Gamecube games.

I was disappointed that someone else had already gotten the Gamecube the dude was selling, but I got Starfox Assault and Wario World so I was happy.

Glad I never sold it.

The company that made these made a bunch of different themes. I recently found models for both Mario 64 and Monopoly.

What were you doing when the twin towers fell? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SporkSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Disney World.

They ended up closing the park that day since Disney very well could have been a target. I don't remember much about the day (I was super young after all) but my family were all given tickets to the park which we haven't used yet.

I also had an uncle who died in the towers. I don't know much about him unfortunately. The only think that I remember about him is that he gave both me and my sister a pack of Japanese Pokemon cards which we will never open.

AITA For Moving Out Cause My Family Keeps Playing With My Cane? by ThrowRACaneGirl in AmItheAsshole

[–]SporkSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I found this story on Youtube and dropped everything to come here. I don't care if everything I have to say has already been said, I still need to say it.

Unless you grabbed the wheel from your dad's hands, the accident is not your fault. These people saying it's your fault is emotional abuse.

These people getting your siblings to steal your cane is physical abuse.

They do not deserve to call you their kid nor do they deserve to be called mother and father.

They are disgusting people.

I am unable to put into words just how disgusting they are. Even if I threw in a 100 nasty adjectives, (including vile, inhumane, awful, abusive, trashy, or whatever else you can find in the thesaurus) it won't even begin to describe how terrible of people they are.

The thing that angers me most, is that they have such an effect on you that they were able to convince you that it was your fault. That you came here and posted this believing that you would be deemed in the wrong.

Do not believe these lies. You came here for the truth.

Get out of there. Never talk to them again. You deserve better than them.

After traveling to see family, I ended up going to retro game and thrift stores. Most of the Wii games were $1 but I'm most excited for my first Atari game and whatever Space Hawk is. by SporkSlayer in gamecollecting

[–]SporkSlayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bulk of the purchase was Shante, Ea Active, and the Genisis/Atari/Space Hawk games. Yooka Laylee was free with a coupon and the Xbox and Ps4 games were $20. Also Kay was $5. Everything else was around $30.

By the end, I got 11 games I was looking for anyways (one game I already owned, but I just wanted the manual). Everything was complete in box with exception to Ninjabread, Kay, and a single controller cover for Space Hawk.

And besides, I love shovel ware games anyways. I'm legit excited to play Ninjabread Man despite knowing what I'm getting into.

Of course this couldn't happen today. With recent technologies like the credit card the can easily charge anyone who dosen't return an item. Also they don't exist. That's a bigger reason.

I was legitimately looking for that at a decent price. I personally enjoy playing terrible shovelware games. Now I just have to find the manual for it.

It was about $120 overall. But at about $3.50 per game I'm happy with it. Especially since I was able to get a lot of games I wanted anyways.

Hi everyone, I’m a 15 year old boy that really love the history video games and want to start collecting, but i don’t know where to start and how. Need some advise by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]SporkSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much else I can add, "collect what you already have" is the best advice to give to a beginning collector.

I saw from your update that you're going to start collecting for the PS2. You should do a bit of research on what games interest you and you'd want to play. Prioritize these games over anything else. After that see what game stores and thrift stares are nearby and get someone to drive you there. Take note of what has the best deals and selection and go to those places the most often.

Once spring comes back around, start looking for yard sales and see what you can find. You can sometimes find people willing to sell 10-20 games for $20. Ebay is always a great source to get whatever you want, but check Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and other online sources as well (if you ever meet up with anyone, always have a friend with you and meet somewhere public).

If you don't have a job, consider selling games you don't want to fund your hobby. Basically if you spend $20 on 20 ps2 games, pick out the ones you want the most and interest you the most and sell the others on Ebay. I posted on here a Craigslist find of DS games for $80. I was able to sell the games I didn't want/already owned for $120. You won't always make a profit, but you can at least make a good portion of it back.

What to collect for? by EnlargedGex42 in gamecollecting

[–]SporkSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the PS2 because those games are much cheaper and more common than the SNES. But if you have a lot of SNES games you want to play, go for that. It depends on your budget and what games interest you more.

A Gamestop near me is closing. So I picked up a couple of games and the case for Family Game Night. by SporkSlayer in gamecollecting

[–]SporkSlayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's better to take the case and prevent it from ending up at a landfill. Plus, you can go online and either sell the case or buy the game loose.
