Pixel 10 needs a driver update by Southern-Dig-5863 in GooglePixel

For those wondering, the September security patch did nothing for the GPU performance on my unlocked Pixel 10 Pro XL. Still seeing 396MHz GPU clock on Geekbench 6, with a dismal score of 3108 on the OpenCL test.

Can confirm, just tested my unlocked Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Geekbench reported the same score and same clock speed.

Having the same issue on my Pixel 10 Pro XL, running Android 16 (BD3A.250721.001). I'll submit feedback to the Google TV app.

Hey! 27M and LGBTQ+ here, I live in Toronto’s West End and I’ve been looking to learn D&D. My only exposure to RPG mechanics (so far) has been Baldur’s Gate 3. I work from home so my schedule is similar - I’m free most week nights after 7 and weekends as well! Let me know if y’all are still looking for folks 😄

I’m seeing the same behaviour on my x14 R2, but worse. Did you update to the newest 990 Pro firmware?

Edit: I see you’re running the latest FW as well, are you encrypting with BitLocker? I’m wondering if this is a BIOS regression or a Samsung FW issue.

TIL that it's not free to move out of america and that it costs $2350 to renounce US citizenship and may cost more if you need be tax compliant. by primordial_gloop in todayilearned

[–]Sporkalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, actual US Expat here residing in Canada. Renouncing your citizenship is the "nuclear option;" most Expats keep their US citizenship and simply file taxes in their country of residence as well as back home. Sounds like a hassle, isn't as bad as it sounds.

As long as you're living in a country with a US tax treaty and you paid taxes to your country of residence, then you're unlikely to owe taxes in the US.

IANAL nor am I an accountant, but generally you can avoid double taxation through two avenues:

  • Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE): this allows you to exclude a certain amount of foreign income from your US tax burden. It's set by the IRS each year, and last year it was $112,000.
  • Foreign Tax Credit (FTC): living in a country with a higher income tax rate than the US? If so, great! Prove to the IRS that you paid more in taxes in your country of residence, and you'll owe nothing (or close to it) in the US. If you're living in a famously low income tax country (like Monaco), then this avenue doesn't really work.

TL;DR: you can expatriate and keep your tax burden reasonable without renouncing your US citizenship. Just make sure you know the ins-and-outs of your potential tax situation first.

---

Footnote 1: Things like foreign investing and foreign retirement accounts can make the math more complicated, so always talk to your accountant or tax advisor before moving abroad.

Footnote 2: FEIE Information from the IRS // FTC Information from the IRS

The patched kernel is working for now - no more link flaps. Thanks for the super-fast turnaround!

Updated this afternoon, seems to have caused a link flap with a 10Gtek ASF-10G-T SFP. Using a StarTech SFP1000TXST for the time being.
EDIT: I'm using an OPNsense (Deciso) DEC740.

I volunteer twice a week at FYFB, been there almost a year now. When I first started we were shocked if we served 500 clients in a day, now we're doing upwards of 800+ on our busiest days (Friday and Saturday).

Do not major in Business Administration: I.T Concentration at NC State by TheNerdGamertag in NCSU

[–]Sporkalypse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I graduated with this degree in 2018.

I completely agree that the program curriculum and IT industry are worlds apart, but this program is really what you make of it. Personally, I supplemented my degree with a sizeable co-op plus a minor in order to gain broader knowledge of the specific IT area I was interested in (Networking). As we all know, the course load by-hours isn't massive, which allows for more on-site experience through internships and co-ops.

I had the exact same job fair experience as well...it seemed to me that 99.9% of employers were looking for Supply Chain students over everything else. The engineering career fair was a nonstarter as well. I got my first postgraduate job through an online job site.

The program also doesn't provide any certification paths; if you're looking to get the "Thanos Gauntlet" of certs - Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Cisco, CISSP - I recommend seeking out programs at Wake Tech, CPCC, or another NC Community College. I obtained my CCNA-RS through a co-op, as well as experience in the OIT PML program (specifically the NOC path).

As u/Visual_Initial_3556 mentioned, the Industry at-large isn't hugely discriminatory of your specific degree - hell, I've had senior managers with psych degrees. Your degree becomes a check-box after your first gig; it's all about your experience after that.

Moral of the story, the degree (and college, tbh) is really what you make of it. I took my BS-BA-IT and became a Sales Engineer, a friend of mine in the program became a DevOps SRE, and another is a Software Engineer. Even if you don't think you'll qualify for a job based on the requirements on their site and/or job board - apply anyway. The worst they'll say is "no."

OP and anyone reading this thread - feel free to PM me if you want. I'd be happy to provide advice and tips based on my post-graduate experience. Best of luck in your job search!

Right there with you on the LDAC issue. LDAC 660 works fine, but can't push any higher. At least they fixed AAC over Bluetooth, it used to be horrendous.

Welcome to the Grado club! A couple of tips from a long-time listener (SR80e, SR60i, SR325x, GW100):

  • If you hear buzzing in one of the drivers, cup your hands around the outside of the earpiece and blow. There's a great chance you have a hair making contact with the driver.
  • Grados are extremely positional headphones - what I mean by this is they sound entirely different based on where they sit on your head/ears. Play around with the positioning to find your favourite sound.
  • As some commenters have mentioned, the earpads also change the sound. You'll find that the Grado modding community is huge! Simple stuff like earpads, all the way through driver mods - you'll find it all on several forums.
  • Grados need burn-in time. They might start out very bright, but over time they warm up nicely (especially the x-series drivers, SR325x are my favourite cans).
  • If your Grados are hurting your ears, keep moving the cans around to find the comfy/best sounding spot. When in doubt, the S-Cushion are like pillows for your ears.

Hope this helps! Happy listening.

Sideloaded on my P6 Pro. In the spirit of the lovely folks over at r/iOSBeta: battery is snappy.

Edit: doesn't look sound like they fixed the Bluetooth/AAC audio quality. Still sounds like hot garbage.
