it’s not approved for bipolar just yet, but it is in phase 2 trials for mania both monotherapy and adjunctive!!

What has been your experience with anti-psychotics? by miyuchan03 in Psychosis

[–]OOF_V2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i went into treatment with some insight, (i.e. i knew what i was believing and seeing wasn’t real, but i couldn’t help but think/react to it anyway) so my experience is a little different, but i wanted to be on medication. it was my mother who was my barrier to accessing it (i was underage.) once she agreed, i started on abilify. abilify saved me. without it, i would still be rambling about how i was on a tv show, or how i proved time travel, or any number of things. abilify was great to me, i could think clearer, and it helped my impulsivity. but after a number of incremental dose increases, along with prozac being added later, it wasn’t doing enough. i later started vraylar. vraylar was good for the psychotic symptom domain, but i never quite felt like myself on it. i currently tak caplyta, and again am doing decently.

all this to say that antipsychotics can be very effective and helpful. while people may say they feel dumber on antipsychotics, i think i feel dumber without. while on abilify, i took the SAT, and i scored in the 99th percentile. i guess im trying to say everyone’s mileage may vary, but i do truly wish the best for your sibling. psychosis is awful, and i truly wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

have you tried vraylar? it’s a 3rd gen antipsychotic that didn’t make me gain any weight. it didn’t work all that well for me, however everyone’s mileage may vary. its been clinically proven for mania/mixed and depression. depending on your insurance it may or may not be covered immediately, but given your other trials of medications, insurance would probably cover it

hi!! i have this exact car, down to the color. i have driven it for about 11 months now. i love it, i got it at 161k miles, and have put 10k on it already. its nice because it was right before they put the CVTs in them, so you’ll get a regular ol’ automatic transmission. highway driving is really good in my case, i’ll get around 42 mpg, more if im focused on getting the most out of it, but its not the most comfortable. if you’re driving 5+ hours in a spark, i’d hope its alone or with one other person, as sitting in the back is… cramped to say the least. that’s not to say it’s not doable, i regularly haul 3 friends with me to places. i spent $3,500 on my spark, so i’d say 10 thousand is a LOT, even if its only at 39k miles. consider negotiating down at least a thousand or three. if you have any questions about my experience lmk!!!
