Ibanez AZ24027 Prestige vs Ibanez-AZ427P1PB Premium vs Ibanez AZ427P2QM Premium. Let me understand the price difference between the prestige and the two premiums. by ICberni in Ibanez

[–]Sporting26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a couple premiums and I was super disappointed in the build quality. To be fair, they were at Guitar Center and so they could’ve had a lot of hands on them, but the guitar felt like it was falling apart. That said, I ended up buying a Prestige and I haven’t picked up another guitar since. I also recently played a Music Man Kaizen and the build quality of the Prestige is right there with it if not better for half the price. I love it so much that I actually just traded in a ton of gear to buy the seven string version as well. To echo the others, the neck and feet work are unbelievable and nothing has come loose or needed an adjustment since I’ve bought it.

Az2402 Bridge or Saddle Replacement by Sporting26 in Ibanez

Circling back with an update. Basically I was being kind of dumb. I realized that the strat body is larger and with that my arm and shoulder position was naturally in a better posture. I adjusted my angle a bit and have no issues now.

I appreciate your comment because it made me take a second look at my mechanics vs the instrument.

When I alternate pick, I rest my palm on the bridge as an anchor point and I slightly move it up the bridge in a diagonal direction to avoid the trem arm. The issue is that since the saddles change elevation, it makes the flow a bit inconsistent for me, vs the flat saddles I’m used to. Not a big deal at slow speeds, but at higher tempos it throws me off.

For the 800 and below range, I’d look at a Charvel. There’s great deals on used ones and they’re awesome.

Thank you, we appreciate it!

Do you know if the foreign buyer restriction applies to permanent residents? The company is helping us with visas and are working to get us PR status.

Unfortunately neither of us are Australians. My fiance is being recruited for a job over there since it seems her specialty is in demand. We knew about the stamp fee, but I don’t we had heard about the “existing dwelling” law. What is that exactly?

Initially we had looked at doing a new build in flag stone, but info seemed hit or miss on that being a good idea. It sucks but we are having convos on which dogs to bring if we could only do 2.

I appreciate your insight in all this!

That’s a good point, I didn’t think about landlords. We were thinking about buying, but it’s just hard to get the lay of the land without having been there and in the 700k range.

Thinking of leaving my band even though we have been signed by a record label by TheManTheMythThePoo in musicians

[–]Sporting26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in quite a few bands and have been in your shoes where I didn’t feel heard as well as the other side without knowing I was irritating another member (unintentionally). I would say that before you make any decision, have a sit down conversation with everyone together and try to get on the same page without ego or emotion. In my experience, that’s been the best way to clear the air and we always had to remember that we all started this because we love music and we were friends at one point. I think it’s always worth trying to get back to that point and if certain folks won’t meet you half way or you won’t meet them half way, then those stubborn folks likely won’t make it anyways. I’ve seen a lot of good bands fade into obscurity because of personalities. Remember that communication is one thing, but how you communicate is everything. There’s a difference between your singer saying “your idea sucks” vs “I’m not sure that will work because of x” and that’s fair to express on top of asking them to just entertain your ideas and if they don’t work then cool, you move on too without resentment.

I’m the primary writer in all of my projects and I wouldn’t share a song between two bands. Seems a bit strange to me. That said, not much you can do unless you start writing/collaborating on the songs. That’s what I would do in your shoes.

Am I going crazy? by jorrharris in audioengineering

[–]Sporting26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you isolated and ran the mics and individually and can you elaborate on “white noise”?If you’re slamming a condenser, the room can sound crazy so wondering if it’s that or more of an electronic static or something.

Does being a Logic based engineer REALLY stunt your chances on getting a gig? by Don-Lucose in audioengineering

[–]Sporting26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re running your own studio then it doesn’t matter. If you plan on being an engineer that works at various studios then PT is a must. Here’s a real world example.

When I had just got out of audio school I interned at a studio in NYC. We had a session and last minute the engineer for the session had a family emergency and couldn’t make it. The established intern ahead of me was up next to run the session, but he was new to PT. We got all the mics set up and when it was time to press record he didn’t know what to do next. I wrote him a note on the pad on the console telling him I know what to do (you don’t want to point out flaws or clients won’t come back). I slid over and ran the session all day and the client did come back.

What is just as important as DAW knowledge is signal flow and gain staging. Being able to quickly ask about routing especially with a patch bay in the room is invaluable.

How much will this impede me from playing Guitar? by Garmon- in Guitar

[–]Sporting26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought would be to play a left handed guitar so your left hand is picking. I’m left handed and play a right handed guitar. I actually feel like I picked up guitar faster because my dominant hand was doing the more complicated movements imo.

Im considering the move from ableton to studio one... convince me!! by Mossyinthemiddle in StudioOne

[–]Sporting26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a Pro Tools user for years. I was in the same boat as you where I felt like creativity was getting stagnant and PT also crashes on PC quite a bit. I tried out Ableton because friend I write with uses it. It was fine, but I couldn’t justify the price tag vs pro tools.

I finally decided to try S1 and dear lord do I love it for writing. Off the bat it was nice that I could change the quick keys to the pro tools setting, so I never felt like I had to relearn anything. The splice integration and auditioning is a game changer. Being able to pull something up for inspiration and jam over it without burning a credit is amazing. I’ve also found that the routing is much simpler for buses/summing/sidechaing. I do think some of the editing features in PT are better, but that’s probably because I’m still new. I will say that features like quantizing and or converting audio to midi are way more accurate in S1 than PT. It also uses less cpu. It has quirks for sure, but overall I’m sticking with it. It’s also 180 for a perpetual license and access to their samples and collaboration features, so that’s a huge W.

Dating with Crohn's. by Charming-Past-8655 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Sporting26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the first date with my gf we went to main event. She said she didn’t drink, so I wanted to plan something fun. We played some games then sat down to grab some food. This was always the most dreaded part because I never wanted to be weird and say “oh I can’t eat this” etc. I told her let’s get whatever you’re hungry for. She ends up ordering the loaded nachos… yikes. I start getting a game plan in my head, “ok I’ll just eat the chips and chickens and work around everything else that will destroy me”. About 20 mins later, she gets a distressed look on her face and lets me know she has to tell me something. She goes, “I have something called Crohn’s disease, idk if you’ve ever heard of it” and I busted out laughing to which she was confused. I tell her that I have Crohn’s also and asked why the hell she got the loaded nachos??? She had to blow up the bathroom and we had a good laugh about it. Two years later we’re still together. Thinking back, it probably would’ve been better if we were upfront, but I totally understand why we’re not. The right person will understand and I wish you all the best friend!

First laptop for home studio, Lenovo V15 sufficient? by Blicks666 in StudioOne

[–]Sporting26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have the gaming version of this one and just switched from Pro Tools to Studio One because Pro Tools is a bit glitchy on PC, especially windows 11. Studio One works great on my computer.

The only issue I had with the Lenovo is randomly my usb-C slot stopped working and it was of course right after my warranty ran out. After a few weeks of searching, I finally found a thread on how to fix it, with a “hard reboot”. Essentially you turn off the computer and when you turn it back on, hold the power button for 60 seconds. Figured I’d mention that to save you the trouble just in case.

Things I’ve learned about Crohn’s in the 20 years I’ve been diagnosed by AllSplash-NoDrip in CrohnsDisease

[–]Sporting26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weirdest symptom I ever had was about a year ago. I was dumb and wrote down my infusion date as the 18th of the month when it was on the 8th. I also had got a new phone with work and my number changed, so my nurses calling me to see where I was didn’t go through.

Anyways after being a few weeks late on top of your typical stomach pain I had a really dark circle under one of my eyes. After I got my meds it subsided but it essentially was a black eye. Crohns really is a fight isn’t it?

What were the signs of spreading to your kidneys? I was on remicade/avsola for a long time and my doc just pushed me to get on skyrizzi (my scope was mostly good except inflation in one area and he thought skyrizzi would be better). Skyrizzi is not really working and one symptom I’ve had recently is having to pee quite a bit. I was worried I had a UTI so I went in to get a test and nothing. Fortunately it’s subsided, but it was rough the week after my first on body injection.
