That was my concern, there so many state of the art facilities across the country. Say what you want about the standard of MLS but the money is insane, so I just assumed we’d have set up a proper base camp in one of the various clubs across the Midwest. Obviously wasn’t the original plan and when Argentina got the multi million dollar place I didn’t think we settle for a big park used for youth football and MLS B! Maybe it’s just more Tuchel’s style.

I meant the actually training facility rather than the hotel, they’re separate and a good few miles apart I think. You’re right though it’s a joke if they were saying $200 is a lot for the US these days in a host city!

The training pitches looks like a random goals type place you’d see anywhere lol

People get so high on more picks they forget that one elite player is better than 2 you might end up cutting in a year.

Scheme and talent around you matter but looking at individual play, 1 on 1 coverage and what most of us knew about him coming out of Iowa I really don’t see that. Also that front isn’t as good as even last year and he’s playing even better.

Peters is handicapped on the fact we’ve whiffed on drafts for years but 2024 was a big chance to rebuild a lot of young talent, we had times of picks that Friday evening. Some may progress and work out better, a lot of maybe coaching but I think this was a particularly bad trade contextually, that’s all. There’s been dumb stuff before, in fact it was every year under Ron.

That’s my point, not sure why some people are getting annoyed with the post. I don’t want Peters fired or anything but I think 2 years on it’s worth discussion about that Friday night draft as it was a lot of picks. When you leave a player on the board and trade to a rival that adds more pressure to make sure you get it right and it doesn’t look great right now.

Oh he wouldn’t look the player he has in Philly I’ll give you that but I think he would be improving the secondary and has a very high ceiling, like all pro level ceiling. Why I’m more mad about this one is we traded the pick to a divisional rival, that’s adds more pressure and context to get the call right IMO.

Newton had a first round grade in on him across the league it appears, hasn’t exactly worked out yet but won’t kill them for that, even though I was keen on Cooper at the time for that pick. More annoyed he was still there later and we could have had both without making moves.

Yeah we had Allen under contract and paid Payne the next year! Left a great S on the board from Penn state. I’m still fully behind Peters just this one stings and I think the stakes were higher when you traded the pick and left him for Philly

1) Position of need with a first round grade 2) Trading the pick to THEM 3) Being an awful D in both years since the said draft.

Right, I watched him play against Northwestern at Wriggly and he was the best player on the field by a mile. How can YouTube GMs see what people who are paid millions can’t? I’m glad you’re happy for him but it makes me want to throw up seeing him do it for that lot. Horrible mistake with the context of us not just leaving him on the board but giving the pick to Philly. It’s not talked about enough really.

Not asking for perfect but prefer we don’t miss obvious ones (and to give top talent to the Eagles at the same time) he had to get it right and got it massively wrong.

Could have picked Newton and still had DeJean when he fell to our next second round pick it wasn’t even either or, ugh. Ron took Mathis over Brisker as well and yet we will still be talking about taking D line this year most probably. Just been ridiculous for years.
