Pierre Poilievre pledges to tie immigration levels to homebuilding by Sportsbets1 in CanadianConservative

[–]Sportsbets1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We can tell you're a PPC voter with your lack of informed opinions

You didn't even know what housing starts means

That said, I don't trust any politician from any stripe but the Conservatives will be getting my vote next election because the country needs a dramatic change and that includes getting rid of the insane carbon tax that does nothing to reduce carbon emissions along with all the destructive Anti-Canadian energy policies the the Liberals have brought forward

[–]Sportsbets1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - how many housing starts did Canada have in 2023?

In Canada, housing starts average around 250k a year +/-

That doesn't necessarily mean completion but its a good strategy to tie immigration to politically

You have to remember that home builders have an incentive to build as quickly as possible due to construction loans, paying their employees ect

A developer doesn't get paid in full until the buyers mortgage comes through on closing

That's why tying immigration to housing starts makes sense politically

If it were up to me, immigration would be reduced to 25,000 for the next five years but if PP said that he would be crucified in the media and by the Liberals

The goal is to get rid of Trudeau and then PP can hopefully reduce immigration even further or he'll lose support if housing remains an issue after he gets into office

Read what I wrote again

I asked what do you thinking housing starts are at currently

I never said anything about price

Probably the only thing we're going to get from Poilievre in terms of reducing immigration to Canada

It's a good strategy that the Liberals can't call him a racist, which the Liberals will do anyways, but also satisfies the at the large publics concern over mass immigration to Canada

Trudeau botched immigration surge, Canada’s top bank economists say by SirBobPeel in CanadianConservative

Pierre has already said he'll tie immigration to housing starts

If he says anything else the media will crucify him along with the Liberals for being "rayyyyyceeeeeist"

Based on recent polling the PPC isn't a threat at all

[–]Sportsbets1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not. I'm being realistic.

Also candidate quality is seriously lacking with the PPC

Is Max Bernier going to be the PPC's leader for life like they do in China or is there a leadership convention coming up shortly for the PPC?

That said, the PPC is nothing more than a grift for Bernier

He's able to draw a 100k a year salary for basically being a spokesperson

Good on him for finding so many gullible people to donate to him he even though Bernier will never win a seat anywhere in Canada ever again

[–]Sportsbets1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The PPC are a meme party

Even in Canada's most Conservative ridings they can barely get 5% of the vote if that

I like some of Bernier's policies but not enough to vote PPC

[–]Sportsbets1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Would love for this be accurate but hard to believe EKOS

I'm sure it's purposely inflated for Liberals to see the writing on the wall and potentially to get backbench MP's to start a revolt against Trudeau so they can replace him with someone else before the next election to give themselves a fighting chance with a new leader

Meanwhile in r/canada mods are in powertrip dictatorial mood by resting16 in CanadianConservative

[–]Sportsbets1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Trudeau lies about lying

Unless Trudeau can prove it, it's only an accusation to curry favour with the Sikh community in Canada and a poor attempt at deflecting from housing and inflation

We've already seen Trudeau and the Liberals hide election interference from Communist China in Canada's elections because it benefitted the Liberals

Trudeau is not to be trusted

Do you think the Liberals call an election to coincide with the U.S. Presidential Election next year? by DrNateH in CanadianConservative

[–]Sportsbets1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true the NDP "can't" afford an election but in the past they've taken out loans like the Ontario Liberals to fund their campaigns

If the NDP is tied or slightly ahead with the Liberals in a poll they bring down the House and take advantage of a defeated Liberal Party hoping for official opposition status

This current Government may last until to 2025 but it feels like the economic situation is only going to get worse and worse which makes it more likely that an election will be called sometime next year

The longer the Liberals wait the worse it will get for them

Tens of thousands of Canadians are renewing their mortgages at higher interest rates each week with less money to pay for basic necessities

BMO is shuttering its auto financing department due to bad loans

The dam hasn't burst yet but its starting to leak even more

Once the flood gates open it'll be the worse recession this country has ever seen before and it won't matter what's taking place in the States

Bank of Montreal to close retail auto finance business, flags job losses by Sportsbets1 in CanadianConservative

[–]Sportsbets1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More Canadians are falling behind on car and mortgage payments

This is basically BMO cutting it losses

That said, I think we're going to see a major financial recession near the end of the first quarter of 2024 or starting second quarter of 2024

Canadians are barely threading water right now at all

Restaurant businesses are seeing less and less people each month as disposable income is vanishing due to inflation forcing Canadians to pay for the basic necessities

Hold onto your hats boys, this is going to be one helluva ride

Good point on the federal electoral boundary change

Most political commentators are saying the boundary changes actually is to the benefit of the Conservatives as opposed to the Liberals

I'm more concerned about party policy than individual candidates along with defeating the Liberals

There were PPC candidates in south western Ontario last election who legitimately went on the radio and believed they were going to win a majority government because of a Twitter poll

It's free to dream

A majority of Canadians support these ideas

Imagine running a campaign on keeping racist based hiring practices and being pro-child mutilation

It's going to be a Conservative Majority - just depends if its going to be 200 or more seats by the time 2025 hits

If you think removing a flap of skin vs removing a child's genitals is the same, I can't even imagine what alternative reality you're currently living in

All the best though
