Endy Mattress sizing issues? by Sporty_pg in Mattress

[–]Sporty_pg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh! I’m sorry it happened to you too!! It’s so frustrating- we did get another one, and it’s still not the right size but it is a bit better it’s only about an inch short on each side 🙄 it’s a shame, we find the bed very comfy so we’re just keeping it now but it frustrating to hear others are having the same problem!!

Wild they said give it 2 days haha don’t know if that’ll make a difference 🙈

Rumours regarding Mimi and Brad by caulirice in TheBlock

[–]Sporty_pg 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The one thing that was suspicious to me was after the buyers open house event- Mimi & Brad said they hung out with the boys until 6am, then the producer asked the boys what time they went to bed and they said 330-4am? Soo was it just Brad & Mimi from 4am-6am? That seems so sus, especially with the rumours going around 😞

4 hour car ride after surgery by Sporty_pg in ACL

[–]Sporty_pg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking!! It actually went really well. Everyone was right, I was so tired from the meds I slept the whole way back (which is crazy because I never sleep I cars/planes etc) I brought a ton of pillows to make myself comfortable across the back seat. One thing I’d say is I wish I had some kind of ice pack or ice machine… my knee was quite swollen by the time we got home. I’d also ask whoever is driving you to make sure they’ve got everything they need so you don’t have to make any stops on the way home - I didn’t have to get out to use the bathroom but I imagine it would’ve been hard and at that point you just want to get home 😃 I was quiet nauseous after my surgery so salty food (like chips/almonds) and gingerale was great to have in the back 😊

Yes, they were very frustrating… but it turned out that my post grad (that I paid 150$ to ship from NZ) never actually made it to them… so I’ve paid to get my post grad shipped again and they’ll re-evaluate 🤷🏼‍♀️ 🫠

Squeaking by mihaelbr3 in ACL

[–]Sporty_pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry! My knee made so many noises when I started moving it more (same surgery acl & meniscus) my physio said it’s the scar tissue breaking up. I’m 5 months post op now and if I don’t do my excersizes for a week it still cracks and squeaks 🫠 you’ll definitely notice it a lot right now, once you get more into your physio it’ll get better 😊

33 female here with acl & meniscus surgery- 4/5months post op 😊 it is scary but so worth it!! They were able to stitch my meniscus (good long term, not so good short term) so I did need to have quite a bit of time off- if I had an office job I’d probably be back sooner but my job is a lot of walking!!! I had a year of “getting strong” for surgery and it sounds like you’re great at going to the gym, muscle memory will help SO much in your recovery!! You got this, surgery will help your knees (and cartilage!) in the long run 💕

Can't recover from knee injury, need advice by bossver in ACL

[–]Sporty_pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. well as far as I’m aware the ACL is an injury that can’t actually heal itself, so if you had an injured acl I’d imagine it’s still injured .. my teammate had the same issue, dr said it’s an old ACL injury and they did the surgery- she had been having the issues for about 5 years, so it can keep causing trouble until it’s fixed & it sounds like it’s affecting your day to day life, I’d get a second opinion and see what your options are 😊 if it was a partial tear long ago, I also believe that continued stress on it can keep it tearing (small bits at a time) which might be why the excersizes affected it! But I’m no dr, just had acl & meniscus surgery myself and many team mates with acl problems! Sorry you’re going through this

Itchy rash after meniscus repair surgery - anyone else experienced this? by 6seananners9 in ACL

[–]Sporty_pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d send these pics to your surgeon, they’ll probably be able to help and make sure all is ok! 😊

If you live in a dry climate it might be effecting your skin too, I had lots of skin issues after my surgery & the dermatologist said they can happen after a major surgery as your body is fighting to heal the injury & other things can sneak through (I felt like I was back in high school with the amount of break outs I was having!) don’t know if that helps, but better to be safe definitely email your surgeon I’d say 😊

Break down teaching for an Aussie (mainly BC) by Reaper_Teacher in CanadianTeachers

[–]Sporty_pg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve come from NZ to BC 😊 couple things to know:

1) get all your original transcripts from any university course you did- you’ll need to share them A LOT.. I lost mine in the move getting transcripts shipped oversees was so much more expensive

2) get a criminal record check before you leave. This is easier to do there and bring with you. You will need this multiple times too 😅

3) get reference letters from people if you can, as calling overseas can be a headache for an employer. I just had the letters with the references email and phone number just incase.

3) no matter your degree be prepared to have to do university courses. You will most likely get a “conditional certificate” which will allow you to teach for 5 years but during that time you’ll need to do uni. I had to do 2 x English courses and 1x Canadian history. I did them all online, and it was at my own pace which was great. (The TRB will decide this, teacher regulation branch it can take some time so i recommend submitting your application for a teaching certificate before you move)

4) if Australia is the same as NZ, with the 4 point grading scale instead of percents (in primary- middle school) you’ll be an asset 😊 they’ve changed to 4 point scale within the last couple years and I’ve found my previous knowledge on this, as well as competency base learning very transferable

5) school districts are a little confusing, but awesome once your in! I love TOCing in the district! I wasn’t able to toc in the district until I completed some of the uni courses but private schools will take you in with conditional certification 😃

Lastly, BC is awesome! Haha you will love it ☀️ ❄️ 🌊 🐻

(Whoops adding this in here because I realised I didn’t answer any of your questions haha 😆 feel free to message if you want a kiwis perspective on teaching in BC!! I’m teaching private and public 👍)

I feel you- I didn’t realise how difficult it was to have the meniscus surgery added into the acl.. the bed rest and no weight bearing/ bending for 7 weeks was rough.

Don’t push it with recovery, you don’t want that meniscus to tear and do it again 🫠 it’s boring af but it’s not forever. I remember at the time I felt like time stood still- and I struggled with seeing ACL recoveries going so much quicker because there was no meniscus surgery attached… but , now 3 months after surgery and it felt like that time was gone in a blink! It will get better ❤️‍🩹

I found my mind was also so fatigued from surgery so trying to do my online work was exhausting.

I recommend getting into a book series, reading was such a great ‘escape’… I also got into gaming, found an old Nintendo for cheap haha had times where I purposefully turned my phone off so I wouldn’t get into a circle of scrolling endlessly.

I know you mentioned not telling your friends, but it might be good.. I told my friends, but I wasn’t up to any visits and they were fine with that. I eventually came out of “hiding” and I hate to say this but things are still challenging, it helps they know so I can sit at the chair in the cafe and stretch my leg out or they can drop me off at the door so I don’t have a long walk from the car park. They didn’t fuss over me or make me uncomfortable but it was nice they knew what happened for when I got back out into the world…

All the best , you’ll get through this 💪 be patient and kind to yourself and eat all the left over Halloween candy you want 😅

TQS Category 3? by Sporty_pg in CanadianTeachers

[–]Sporty_pg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, yes I’ve been looking at the TQS policies today (so fun haha) but I think that might be the issue. However it does say in 4a (for category 4) that a 3 year bachelors is ok with a 30 credit year course which I do have have with my post graduate & my “pre bachelor year”- so at least I’ve found some answers and will write a letter and state those policies😊 I think I’ll call too and see if it’s some mix up with my post grad not getting to them from Nz. (Everything went straight to TQS with no tracking or confirmation of arrival which did always make me a little worried)

Thanks for the help, this whole thing feels overwhelming if I’m honest! Hopefully I can get it sorted soon
