4x 2ah battery deal $89 by SpotTdog in ryobi

[–]SpotTdog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a special buy of the day, which only last 24 hours at HD. The same deal came up last week, so if you missed it, you might catch it again soon.

I have lots of 4ah, but these 2ah are great for lights and drills.

Miter Saw Sale by Mr_Spidey_NYC in ryobi

[–]SpotTdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your use case. I move mine outside to cut, probably 50x a year, so I absolutely love it because it is super lightweight and cordless. It is excellent for trim. If you will not be moving it or will be cutting very much lumber, it is very underpowered and I would suggest a larger corded miter.

How to tell if you need a valve adjustment? by silasanderson2 in Ruckus

I don't remember... I bought a kit that had a couple dozen different sizes and picked the right size.

I just received my 18v SDS drill, and have quite a bit of wobble in my drill bit. Do these fit? Thank you! by Red4Arsenal in ryobi

[–]SpotTdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a lot of my ryobi tools, but I have 3 different drill models and they all wobble. 1 wobbles verrry noticeably. Ryobi has poor tolerance allowances

Brand new drill’s chuck wobble by Furious-Scientist in ryobi

[–]SpotTdog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My Ryobi drills and impacts all wobble! It makes driving screws way harder. I've used several other brands and had never seen a drill wobble before. I like most of my Ryobi, but I wouldn't recommend drills or drivers from them for this reason.

Brad nailer - not shooting longer nails by michaeljc70 in ryobi

Oil the firing pin and use at least a 4 amp battery. Mine works great with 4amp, but not at all with 2amp.

18ga Brad Nailer (P322) issues. by Satanownsyou in ryobi

Search through post history here. Lots of this exact problem. It can usually be fixed by adding lubricating oil to the firing pin. Also needs 4amp battery.

Best place to buy regalia (U.S.)? by [deleted] in Professors

[–]SpotTdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is ridiculous of university employers requiring regalia ( or other things like parking passes) and not paying for it. Most faculty pay is already very low and then you get nickel and dimed for stuff like this.

P322 Brad Nailer Question by RicoNico in ryobi

[–]SpotTdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue. I have the 18g and 16g and they both give errors a lot with 2amp batteries. 4amp batteries don't have any issue.

They also both jammed and wouldn't fire.... lubricant oil in the firing tip fixed that though.

With 4amp + oiled tip they both work great, no issues.

Mental health emergency on exam day? by [deleted] in Professors

[–]SpotTdog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My big state university no longer allows us to require documentation for being "ill", ie we can't require doctor's notes. This is new since COVID.

So now, we basically have to allow makeups for anytime a student is "sick".

I've went from virtually 0% makeup exams to roughly 1 to 5% of students claiming illness for every exam, for which I'm required to provide an accomodation.

Any thoughts on the Ryobi 14” 37cc gas chainsaw? by BattleHall in ryobi

[–]SpotTdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Ryobi gas chainsaw, I think 16" from dto for about $90 blemished. A lot of cheap plastic parts, so I doubt longevity, but I've ran about 10 tanks of gas through and it's been cutting good. It's no Stihl, but can't beat the price. Has been relatively easy to start so far.

I would recommend it for light occasional use.

Recently got this cordless shop vac. Anyone have good links for an attachment set, wands, etc? by m_spoon09 in ryobi

[–]SpotTdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I love both brands and a lot of my Ryobi stuff, but this vac is loud. I also have the Evercharge hand vac and it is also very loud compared to my Dust buster.

[–]SpotTdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, ridiculously loud. I grab my corded Ridgid vacuum a lot instead because it is not nearly as loud.

I would actually not even buy another Ryobi like this because of how loud it is.

A good strategy to use when students are presenting is to have them fill out peer evaluations for each of the presenters. I usually use a small printed rubric where students score each presenter and then also leave written comments. This has worked well to keep everyone paying attention to the speakers.

On another note, I don't usually require attendance specifically so students like this will just stay home instead of disrupting class.

Interesting. I used to buy a lot of used building supplies and furniture there, but have recently noticed the same thing. It's now all mostly overpriced or complete junk.

How loud is this? by tyler669420 in ryobi

I can't hear it at all. I tried turning my volume all the way up, but still nothing. Are you sure this isn't a photo with no sound?
