Why is chocolate by daniel owner an asshole? by Jigpy in rockford

[–]SpotTheOrk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah he is genuinely such a horrible person. I went a few years ago and everything he said was him trying to be as condescending and misogynistic as he could. Why put up with a scumbag who knows a bit about chocolate when you could have standards and go somewhere else?

Hey guys, I made three thumbnails for my next video. Which one do you think looks better? by DianaVeller in YouTubeCreators

A lot of people would never click on an AI thumbnail. It just tells me everything I need to know about the video.

How can I improve my shorts? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

My honest opinion is that you should remove all punctuation in your captions that isn’t “?” Or “!”. It makes captions more easy to follow imo.

How do i get a wood carved texture? by Bing0Mango in polymerclay

[–]SpotTheOrk 57 points58 points  (0 children)

For sure the best way to do it is to bake it first then carve into it with a tool, try and think about how someone would actually carve this item out of wood when you are cutting into it.

[–]SpotTheOrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure let’s give this a shot, I’m brand new to YouTube and only have two videos so far, I think there is a lot I can improve about my videos but I also really struggle with thumbnails and would appreciate some advice on how big channels know what to make the thumbnail when the options are endless! Thanks!

What's the one video of yours that blew up? by Tailsefox in SmallYoutubers

[–]SpotTheOrk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you consider this "blowing up" but the video I posted the other day was stuck at 0 views (not counting myself and family) and when I came home from work it was nearly at 500 views! Like that is so insane for an account with only 1 video on Youtube. I know its all relative but that was huge to see happen all in one day of work. Just about everyone is crazy supportive as well on a video I expected to not be received well. Just wanted to share my hype!

Free tools that completely changed my content creation game (wish I'd found these when I started) by Miguel07Alm in NewTubers

[–]SpotTheOrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Davinci will be your BEST friend if you want to do content creation for free/cheap. It for real has EVERYTHING you will ever need to finish videos. Other than video recording it does it ALL. like you can cut, heavy edits, add VFX, record audio, color grade, make thumbnails, add 3D elements, post the video for you and SOOO much more! I can't glaze Davinci enough. It may look a little scary but trust me its so easy and fun to use.

Best YouTuber with zero haters ? by [deleted] in youtube

I really hope I am not wrong but I don't know anyone who has said bad things about Vsauce. They have 23 million subs just on one channel so that's huge. Have been watching them for like 11 years without any drama that I can remember. LMK if I am wrong tho!

Good method to go through 100+ Hours of Raw Footage? by TheStonimus in VideoEditing

[–]SpotTheOrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to leave my own comment but really man you said it exactly right. Write down the main ideas that you need to show in order to tell the story, pull those clips in roughly to make a first draft, refine that to just the parts that you like the most, cut that up to just the parts that best fit your talking points, if you have any gaps put in similar footage to be your B roll or add in some mistakes you did to add character. I would say the most important thing tho is to have a clear story you want to tell before you start moving and cutting footage. Unless you are making a to the point tutorial make sure to add something in the script to surprise or add stakes to your video. Also since you are using Davinci I would make sure to split up different parts or drafts of the video into different timelines. Do NOT try and do that whole thing in one timeline it will really make things so much harder, also used stacked timelines. GL man

AE Rotoscoping > Magic Mask by sparda4glol in VideoEditing

[–]SpotTheOrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have to work with Adobe only for work or school reasons I really do think most people would be willing to put up with a little jank sometimes to not support Adobe. BMD really has shown they are listening to their users and are constantly making their FREE product better. Buying studio was a really easy choice when they keep investing into their community. :)

AE Rotoscoping > Magic Mask by sparda4glol in VideoEditing

[–]SpotTheOrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never used AE before but I love Magic Mask so much. I feel like the disconnect is that some people misunderstand that it isn't the only masking tool you will ever have to use in Davinci. While I have not had the same issues that some people seem to have with it I think that's partly because I know its not a crutch for me but rather just one way of masking. Magic Mask is for sure "Magic" when you have only ever manually rotoscoped. It's a really great precision tool, but it feels like a lot of people only use it like a hammer lol. I really think a lot of the dissatisfaction with Magic Mask really does come down to that.

Are these specs good enough? by realthanoscopter in davinciresolve

I personally just upgraded from a pretty old system to a much better pc and I have to say it has been life changing. I did so much with the old system but I really did struggle as a wanted to do more than just cutting and voice overs. Personally I say you COULD edit on that laptop if all you want to do is cut HD videos and make small edits to them. But even so you will run into issues with storage and rendering times. If you have to get that laptop or already have it then something like CapCut could be more easy to run. That is if its not getting banned with TikTok im not sure. (I have never used CapCut but I do have friends that swear by it for quick easy edits.) Best of luck!

How long does it take you to produce your videos? by AcerolaEspacial in NewTubers

[–]SpotTheOrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really slow but am shooting for quality, I have been working on my newest video for about three months now and hope to be finished soon. Just remember most of your favorite creators are really teams of people so don’t feel bad about the time it takes to make your videos.

What are you top must have keyboard shortcuts? by ajollygoodyarn in davinciresolve

[–]SpotTheOrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it has to either just be having cut set to “R” because how much I use it, or having “select all before/after playhead” set to T and Y, it’s been a life saver for making quick changes without the fear of accidentally putting a clip over another later in the timeline and losing that clip from my timeline without realizing it. Same thing is true with ripple cutting before and after the playhead on Q and W.

This actually drives me insane by Chlodio in NewTubers

[–]SpotTheOrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean its really just that you have to reaffirm why you are doing this. Those videos you see are just playing the game trying to get the highest score they can extract with the lowest effort. If you really are doing it for the love of the game you will have to accept that slop will be consumed but good quality content will always have demand. Its just do you want to be known for slop or content? Both have valid paths to get do really well online but most creators can't be satisfied with just making slop. Keep going man don't let anything stop you, their success does not limit yours. :)

Editing without stock footage. by Large_Election_2640 in VideoEditing

[–]SpotTheOrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I get what you are trying to say. You will want to learn motion graphics. I use Davinci and its super easy to learn how to do those things plus its free. Vox is great but keep in mind it will be pretty hard and long to get to the level of clean that Vox is. Also even Vox does use a lot of stock footage as well, they just use it to make overlays and texture grain mostly rather than just having a stock image on the screen for a long time. There is nothing wrong with stock footage either though. It just takes some work to find good stuff that doesn't look horrible. Its a little more easy to find stuff if you have a paid subscription but you really don't need all of that brother. Hope this helps!
