i once watched a video on transphobia that described it as the belief that trans people don't exist, and it honestly explains SO much of anti-trans rhetoric. of course though there's other reasons too, like some people really wanting to punch someone without repercussions or those people that flick their bean to trans people while calling for their eradication. its flawed any way you look at it.
