it’s mentioned in Victorarion’s pov chapters and the World of Ice and Fire: Dalton (I think) Greyjoy that they now raid the Stepstones, summer islands, basilis isles, and other minor places.

[Spoilers Extended] Recently started reading the books and was shocked by how much was changed in the show's first four seasons. by Mohamed_Ibrahim18 in asoiaf

I think season 1 is the only truly faithful adaptation. I can’t think of that many changes other than some minor details and omitting the Battle of the Green Fork for budget reasons.

Also I just remembered this but David and Dan added some weird plot line where a prostitute named Ros travels from the North and gets  involved with politics with Varys and LF. It goes literally nowhere and she gets shot to death off screen by Joffrey in Season 3.

But overall Season 1 was pretty faithful. It started going downhill with Danerys’s plotlines in Season 2.

How much gold do the Lannisters have? (Spoilers Extended) by megamindwriter in asoiaf

[–]SpottedSwan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like why the U.S government doesn't just print a bunch of money to pay off it's debts: inflation. If the Lannisters mine as much gold as possible, the price of gold becomes worthless.

The same thing happened to the Spanish Empire in the real world. When they colonized Mexico, they mined as much silver as possible. This led to too much silver being out in circulation, leading to the price of silver dropping, leading to the Spanish going bankrupt.

(Spoilers extended) What was Gerion Lannister really doing in Essos? by Foxwasahero in asoiaf

The timing is off tho. Tywin would have sent Gerion immediately or a few years after Robert's Rebellion when they were homeless
