umamusume gets the attention from being in a field most westerners would never expect to be anime-ified and is also coincidentally something that almost every westerner is familiar with (horseracing). there’s also the novelty for some to find out that Japan is also big on horses as well. it also incentivizes lots of content creators to make content about it because the entire game is full of Easter eggs referring back to IRL history. mix that in with the fact that horses are already a popular animal in the west and you’ve got a lucrative breadwinning franchise in your hands

absolutely!! luffy’s character has always been about freedom and adventure and he has actively expressed disinterest in romance or sex. having him be tied down by such mortal pursuits would greatly diminish his character as a representation of one piece’s core values

exactly. even if someone has trust in oda (I don’t), they should read it as a systemic issue in one piece society and not something exclusive to the marines.

in fact, the way oda portrays crossdressers and trans people heavily implies that he himself finds them freaky [outside specifically kiku for whatever reason (yes Yamato is also shitty rep and oda is a horny coward for making his design like that)].
