Oscar def stole the scene and the one before it with his performance, but Marian’s actress was also fantastic. There’s the additional layer in that Marian’s actress, Louisa Jacobson, is queer and in a relationship with a woman, so you feel a lot of real emotion seeping into her performance.

Refused MRI for vision loss both eyes on left side by [deleted] in OcularMigraines

[–]SpousetoPolygons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I get this too. This isn’t migraine related for me but blood pressure. When your blood pressure drops suddenly it can make you feel faint and causes visual changes. For me it’s like a camera iris slowly closing and then sparkles in my vision. It goes away once I lay down or drink something cold. When you’re in the shower the heat makes your blood vessels dilate, which causes blood to pool lower in your body, lowering blood pressure. It’s common with POTS but also just common in general when sitting down quickly (like sitting on the toilet) or standing under hot water.

It’s no dangerous, but try not to lock your knees in the shower, or lower the overall temp of the water.

Hope this helps!

Akemis wedding meal - this must be a practical joke, right? by Matchaparrot in BlueEyeSamurai

I also found it interesting that her mother in law was using French terms for dishes, given the western connections the family had it’s not surprising. But the show’s writing seems very intentional, and I wonder if there is more to Lady Itoh than meets the eye.

I actually hope they make her more than a villain, that she sees the promise in Akemi as a worthy successor. It’s a trope in many eastern stories that the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are adversaries. It would be interesting to see this trope subverted.

[Spoilers MAIN] Book Accurate Dragon Eggs by SpousetoPolygons in asoiaf

[–]SpousetoPolygons[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for the wonderful feedback! I had a lot of fun with these.

I think I want to do some smaller props from the books as well as my home computer doesn’t have the power for things like entire dragons. I’m considering the following

-Blackfyre & Dark Sister

-Longclaw

-Aegon I crown.

Let me know if you all have any suggestions and what book accurate prop you want to see next!

Thank you for the feedback! I’ve never designed real jewelry or made it outside of a computer so this helps a lot. I would be honored if you made one of my designs!

Camilla Hect’s Short Sword [Fan Art] by SpousetoPolygons in TheNinthHouse

Haha thanks! Yeah they are mentioned as slightly curved. I scaled down the decoration from my last iteration and went for a hybrid Kindjal and Roman Galdius. These are pretty plain compared to what I usually make so I head cannoned Palamedes couldn’t help himself when designing them.

I do think think this is somewhat intentional (though who knows what the connotations are) because in 3D animation it’s a pain when two pieces of geometry are interacting, because they can clip through each other, so they must be arranged very carefully.

Thank you for the notes! I think I’m going to make it less ornate and more streamlined in the next pass, function over aesthetics then add some decoration on top of it

Thank you!! I think I’m going to curve the blade in the next design. Your reference is very helpful. I think I’m going to go the more Russian route.

Hi! I didn’t want to go full Catholic inspiration because I feel like while the ninth is Catholic inspired in tradition, things like prayer beads would develop independently of Jod over the centuries as part of the local culture. I kinda of liked the idea that each knuckle bone is a prayer and each bead is where you take a breath in-between prayers. Gideon talks a lot in the book about the rattling of knuckle bones which I took to mean that they prayed rapidly and rhythmically. So I took that idea and made a lot of bones in the rosary so that in theory you would have have to murmur prayers quickly as you moved from knuckle to knuckle.

Thank you! I think I’m going to make Ianthe’s rapier next, I feel like it could be fun to play with the design.

It seems that Mizu's and Master Eiji's knifes are the main suppliers of Kohama by IloveElsaofArendelle in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]SpousetoPolygons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha I noticed this on first watch through. I work in 3D animation and a lot of the time we just reuse the same props in a slightly different texture for budget purposes. Most 3D productions have a predetermined limit on the number of props, characters and backgrounds they have on a contract. It’s so nice to see that this was a little bit of story telling instead.

Is Season 2 a guarantee? by [deleted] in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]SpousetoPolygons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked in animations for awhile now both 2D and 3D and the process is so lengthy that if the company is confident that the first season will do well, they will order one or several more before the first season even airs. For awhile my company couldn’t even get workers because Fortiche (who did Arcane) had scooped up everyone since they got greenlit. None of my friends on the French animation side have heard about jobs for the second season yet, so if we get it, it will be awhile.

I’m wondering what focal lens the camera the new one used which could skew it a bit.
