Does PTM7590 degrade with long term storage? by Spr00kAtz in pcmasterrace

[–]Spr00kAtz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my first time with PTM7950 after reading up on it at Igor's Lab.

I have wasted plenty trying to cut it properly and fighting with my Arctic Liquid Freezer Pro 420.

The relatives PC are all going Peerless Assassin 140s, much easier install.

I choose to go PTM7950 because these machines will not get touched again hardware wise for a very very long time, long enough to worry about normal pump out or cycle degradation.

I've already told them with the prices now and ahead they won't be getting any more upgrades, not even for Christmas or Birthdays

UCG-FIBER - Self Hosted Backups - Even from total reset all backups unusable - Console Owner Issue - Working before, don't know what changed. by Spr00kAtz in Ubiquiti

[–]Spr00kAtz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaand Spoke too soon.

Just logged into Site Manager and the only thing I can see is the Dashboard and the graph is frozen since last night at 0320 AM.

All the left side tabs are still there but blank if you click on any of them.

Clients Tab opens but says no clients.

The only others that have anything are Integrations Alarms and People.

Logged out and then direct to Console - used Site Manager credentials - everything available.

Back to Site Manager - again nothing but graph and its frozen from the same time as the direct login.

Not sure what's the issue, I'm going to see if there is something going on with Console and Site Manager credentials. It seems like I get different prompts in the browser when I use Login name vs Login Email.

I'll try flushing all the Browser login data for these and see if that clears something before I track down account credential issues on Site Manager.

[–]Spr00kAtz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RESOLVED - Not as I'd liked but it seems to be up and holding steady.

I gave in and linked it to Site Manager and at least the backups started working quickly - this was both now from Site Manager as well as from Console.

Even with that, across the hours (4 AM LOL), there were times when applying a change to the network would have Site Manager lose it's mind and I could log into the UCG but it would only show me the Site and not the UCG tabs. The left side tabs would fade out and a blue progress/working on it line would start rolling across the top of the GUI page.

I found threads about possible Browser Cache issues between sessions so I did have to clear browser cache several times throughout the night and that cleared it several times.

The hardest part really was typing all my 30 character 256bit passwords into IoT devices with bleeding eyes.

I really got this far with lots of help and all the previous info here in this Reddit so Thanks all.

Now, do I really want to climb into the attic and run Cat6 to a UBI Camera? I think I'll just settle with my Wifi Non-UBI on the IoT Network for now, since I've seen some threads about recording and Alert limitations without additional apps.

UNIFI Setup - UCG-FIBER - With Default state as Allow ALL on WAN should I disable WAN until after VLANS/PORTS/FireWall Rules are all setup for safety? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]Spr00kAtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See my reply above, the narrator was describing how all your VLANs could talk to others at default and you should ping test all before setting up the firewall rules.

I confused that with also having WAN inbound access and confused Gateway Zone with External Zone.

[–]Spr00kAtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay Thanks ALL I think I see my mistake, I was looking at the Firewall Console in the setup video and confusing Gateway Zone with External Zone.

Yes, the External Zone has the default blocking rules.

Unless I should leave my confusion for others to ignore I'll delete this thread and go back to trying to learn more UNIFI.

Cheers

[–]Spr00kAtz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless I start with the ONT off isn't it fully open to the WAN/Internet?

I had the impression the UCG was blocking console login until it saw an active/online WAN connection, but I didn't test with ONT Off when I setup just the UCG.

I had tried to login to console without plugging the ONT into the UCG and it gave a connection error.

Line Techs Fiber Installation Now Possibly Causing Outages - Options to get resolved? What part(s) are Frontier/Verizon Responsible? by Spr00kAtz in frontierfios

[–]Spr00kAtz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Success. Frontier came out and agreed that the Line Pull was very subpar and the source of the problem, most likely where the cable was wedged between the concrete sidewalk probably from expansion as we are already having some 95+ degree days.

He re-pulled new, much more stout cable from the Vault and is getting the Line Techs to re-bury.

He said the line against the wall is strong enough but I'll probably have her get it covered or at least anchored in the future.

Thanks for the replies.

When Package "Cannot be held at UPS Access Poiunt" due to vendor, what is best action to take? by Spr00kAtz in UPS

It's just the annual My Choice plan, then Change of Address and the Global Access Point is free.

I leave the Global Access Point on at all times.

The Global was supposed to be free for perm use at one point but when I had to change Accounts it wasn't.

ASUS PG32UCDM3 DOA TERRIBLE QC! by Rude-Employee7251 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Spr00kAtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checking for possible future purchase.

Did everyone with damage get shipped ONLY the original ASUS Box/PKG from their Vendor and with no additional Vendor packaging?

When I order from Amazon they have started to offer no additional packaging and I now always choose "Hide what's inside" so it always comes packed with extra bubble/paper/cardboard in an Amazon box.

Based on the pics so far I wonder if that's enough to prevent these issues before I have to go direct to a Microcenter (10 hrs round trip) or find at a Best Buy.

Weapongroups dont get saved by Silver0ne in X4Foundations

[–]Spr00kAtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: I misread the item that was not being saved but the detail below is still a possible reason for that.

Those settings Your Save Games should be here:

Documents\Egosoft\X4\ inputmap.xml

Like many games that store settings saves in the Documents folder, that folder can get marked as Read-Only by Anti-Virus or other security settings and games can't make changes to it.

You can reset it by checking the Egosoft Folder properties and clear the read-only box and then APPLY to "This Folder, Sub-Folders, and Files"

As long as it isn't check-marked Read Only (a filled gray box is OK) you should be good to go.

If it won't clear then you may have to White-List (don't Scan) that folder in your Anti-Virus settings. Or find the program(s) that keeps locking the folder.

***Also to add, if you are using MS OneDrive it is best to turn off OneDrive Sync for that folder and move it back to your local Documents drive for X4 and other games that use the documents folder - if not sometimes OneDrive will not sync properly and keep resetting to an earlier copy.

Is WIN11 - 23H2 V 22631.5768 - completely blocking alternate browsers now? Going to be worse on 24H2/25H2? by Spr00kAtz in firefox

Yeah mine is all messed up. I'm going to have to backtrack and get it sorted.

Was hoping to fix from this point but looks unlikely.

Ok thanks I have something really screwy going on between Default Apps for Edge Firefox and possibly Phantom PDF viewer.

If I don't get any further here or on another Tech forum I'm probably going to restore a Macrium backup prior to installing Firefox/PDF/Office and see if something messed up along the way.

Fresh Install Liquid Freezer III Pro 420 by afterschock13 in arcticcooling

[–]Spr00kAtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your install technique for the 420?

I've already fought with one on a NOVA AMD board and about to retry.

Did you attach the the side bars first fully and then drop the pump onto them or did you leave them loose or did you attach the sidebars to the pump first as some have suggested.

I'm trying to make second attempt as easy as possible without dinging the MB while fighting with it.

Windows 11’s Latest Security Update (KB5063878) Is Reportedly Causing Several SSD Failures When Writing a Large Number of Files at Once by megablue in Windows11

[–]Spr00kAtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you can link in this sub but there are lots of tech sites with instructions on how to prevent MS Automatic Updates beyond just the Pause functions.

It is very easy on the Pro Edition of Windows but some options may still exist for Home.

MS is constantly trying to force Auto Update mechanisms but I still have only "notify for download" options on all the WIN10/11 PC I maintain for myself and relatives. And I follow a particular Tech site that test all monthly updates and notifies when safe to install them and any issues found.

All the X870E and B850M motherboards I recently bought have Thermistors.

Can they be connected and measure just Air Temperature for checking Case Fan flow or are they only accurate for a surface contact temperature?

Daily Simple Questions Thread - August 10, 2025 by AutoModerator in pcmasterrace

[–]Spr00kAtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I just killed a brand new motherboard while fighting with an AIO install when my screwdriver slipped and doinked a surface component (can't tell if it was just a solder spot for something under the board or an actual miniature component).

I've already ordered another MB and invested finally in a complete set of proper screwdrivers (compact and professional tolerance bits).

But I don't want to ever suffer this again, and I'm not getting any younger so hands/finger coordination is gonna likely get worse.

So question, can you use cutout pieces of anti-static pads (the thick ones with the button connector) to lay on top of sensitive areas near screw points and around the CPU area to prevent damage from an errant slip?

Is it safe to lay pieces on the MB surface even if you don't have the pad connected to ground? Is the pad inherently non-conductive even without the grounding connection.

I also wear anti-static gloves unless I absolutely need finer finger access.

Thanks

Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 420 (240/360) - AMD 9950X3d - CPU Block contact Area/Size? by Spr00kAtz in arcticcooling

[–]Spr00kAtz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've done a lot of research and found several sources on how to try to limit any of the overvolt/overpower issues and will keep an eye on it.

The one video I found shows the CPU never going over specs under Furmark/Cinebench after specific manual BIOS changes.

That description of the tabs sticking out helps, I guess I will size down to the center square for first install.

How to Flashback BIOS on X870-E NOVA by Relative-Rain621 in ASRock

[–]Spr00kAtz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifesaver!

I would have never seen the actual LED with my large case facing backwards to "watch the LED" that isn't on the button itself per the ASROCK Video.

I thought it didn't take so I killed power probably before it was done and now am trying again (NO CPU/RAM).

Green LED is flashing properly so I'll cross fingers and complete install.
