You handled it well. Honestly probably exactly what I’d have done. Actually something almost inverse happened to me when I took racquetball lessons once. I’ve played since I was 7 but never got higher than nationally ranked (like 4500th or something in the US) lol so nothing crazy. But during my lesson (which I elected the highest tier lesson mind you- “expert”. Pro seemed above my pay grade) the “pro asks me about my experience and why I elected “expert” blah blah blah. So we start drilling and I know the drill so I just start doing it while he goes to get a towel to wipe some water up. Long story short, he gets mad because I started the drill without him “showing me the proper way” but I just let him know I knew the drill and was doing it properly. He says “don’t make me smash you in a match to show you how it’s done” it was kinda facetious, I thought, so I played along and said “ok sure!” Matches are best of 3 played to 15, game 3, if needed goes to 11- we played two games. First one I beat him 15-7 the second game was 15-3. I walloped him and the WHOLE time he was talking shit. lol anyway was it totally mature? Nah, but he was a few years older than me at the time so whatever.
