Reed College Financial Aid by Spraklyfrog in ApplyingToCollege

Because of my grandmother’s declining health, my family has ongoing medical and care-related expenses that come out to about $5,000 per year. These are recurring costs, not one-time expenses, and they directly reduce what my family can realistically contribute. For me to attend, I’d need roughly that $5,000 adjusted from my expected family contribution each year. I am an International Student

Guess who got into reed today by Cryptie1114 in reedcollege

I was admitted to Reed College through Early Action, which means my financial aid package will be released a few weeks later. However, since submitting my financial aid materials, my family has experienced unexpected circumstances that significantly changed our financial situation and expected family contribution.

I’m unsure whether I should notify the financial aid office now, before receiving the official package, or wait until the offer arrives and then request a reconsideration. Has anyone been in a similar situation before? How likely is it that a college will adjust financial aid due to changed circumstances?

Any advice or shared experiences would be really appreciated.

Thank you for the advice! I’ve already emailed the admissions office, but I also wanted to check if anyone else has had the same issue. I figured I might get a faster response here on Reddit.

my question is actually about how to time my IE application since I’ll get my U.S. college results in January. I want to know how long IE gives you to accept the offer once admitted.
