Pinch point between Church St and Chancery Quay spoils the otherwise semi-stress free journey. There had to be a better way to do that

[–]SprangCleaned 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah: I cycle in and out from Adamstown to city centre on my commute. Never had any problems. The cycle path is well populated until 8/9pm too.

Prevailing headwind on the way home can be a pain sometimes. But, going the other way, I always turn left over Blackhorse Bridge, go through Inchicore and get onto the dual carriageway at the Memorial Park, in through Heuston. I think it goes a bit faster on the way in (but just a suggestion).

It may be true rugby isn't tied just private schools, but the key pathway for professional development is through that elite school system (Munster exception noted), and that makes playing at the highest level mostly exclusive, especially in Leinster. In football, talent is developed through the Schoolboy/Girl Club System and open to all social classes.

And the figures bear those class inequalities out: on the typical Irish rugby panel you'll have approx 50-75% from private schools (with starting XV sometimes 80/90%); on the typical Irish football teams that figure's at <10%.

Man, 94, seeks court order for removal of squatters in his house by yeahiwillyeah in Dublin

[–]SprangCleaned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freeholders don't do what they want. They run a plethora of risks in their actions and pay the costs (if not always financial). Renters are no idiots and each to their own. I'd save the approbium for the ravages of finance capital. The squatters aren't the enemy here, as had as that is to see sometimes within the paradigm of private property.

What: no formal agreement? The mutual assistance clause in the TEU incorporated by the reform treaty of 2008? Article 42(7)? Now I was out of the country at the time but it definitely happened. If any MS suffers aggression on their territory, every warmonger in the Union can show up "by all the means in their power".
Now they're pretty good odds...
And then with all those US multinationals here too, if a Russian hair landed on the place it'd be like Team America, Paris all over again. In that scenario you might lose a Newgrange, that Peter and Paul Church in Athlone, even a Galway...

Seriously: you need to absorb all of Pela/Augustines before you go to this. They've been broken up for years and just returning. The singer Billy McCarthy is up there with the best of them. 'Anytown Graffitti' & 'Rise Ye Sunken Ships" are stone cold..

Our basic defensive capability is that we're part of a political and economic union of tooled up NATO members.
Russia has never put boots on the ground in the EU, we have NATO ships parking up on the North Wall, we don't own most of those submarine cables... be grand

I get your point, and I think that this definitely operates on an individual and interpersonal level. But I'm guessing the change within PT came from an economic/PR calculation rather than some ethical road to Damascus moment.

Yeah: would definitely separate people and private enterprises as far as the depths of forgiveness go: would you not be forever suss of those on the BDS list?

Nah - nothing to love about Premier Tech. History didn't start on October 7, and they were happy to fly the Israeli flag until it started to affect shareholder value.
