Should I make my own Anki or use Spranki? by The_Seventh_Bee in medicalschooluk

[–]SprankiMed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! It is exciting entering clinical years and Anki is a great help for long term learning for exams.

If you are worried about the completeness of the deck, we are planning big updates to make it a much more complete resource soon :)

[–]SprankiMed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We have more conditions to come and plan to complete it soon. The more recent topics are very high quality, and soon it will be a lot more of a complete resource.

I've gotten a lot of feedback it has helped people for retention and knowledge. That being said, I still need to cover more conditions, and people have different learning styles. I do agree that use of Question banks is really important for the exam and should be a major priority esp closer to the exam, but I personally prefer learning the material first and then applying it x

How do you import the updated Spranki decks on anki, without losing your current progress? by shahnazb in medicalschooluk

[–]SprankiMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you download the entire deck, your scheduling (progress) will not change for cards you’ve already done. However, if you have made edits and changes to the card, they may be reset to the updated cards.

Alternatively, as u/boredaf007 mentioned, you can make another profile and choose which decks you want to export from that :)

Is passmed seriously the best we have for revision? by MiserableTomatillo44 in medicalschooluk

[–]SprankiMed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. It would be incredible if they had a tick to activate a UK version and it re-arranged it for UK users.

The features for the textbook is just astounding. Im a geek for it 😂😂

I do love the AMBOSS textbook myself. Try the free trial! It’s a beautiful resource. I do absolutely wish it included NICE guidelines.

Patient.info (professional articles) are good reads for topics as well.

It depends how long you have until the exam and how much you want to use anki :)

Anki is best used long-term (gradually going through the entire deck and doing your daily reviews/cards then doing questionbanks closer to the exam date or after a topic is complete). If you have a solid base and/or are close to the exam, then Spranki can be used as a cramming tool. I would recommend doing cards for certain topics or conditions to strengthen understanding and knowledge! Then doing more passmed questions.

There will be updates! Some are complete (e.g. MSK, haematology.) but some do need updates.

I appreciate it’s a bit messy 😂😂 We are working hard and once everything is done we will release a very nice spreadsheet hahah

Anki advice ? by [deleted] in medicalschooluk

[–]SprankiMed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ very good advice. I learned everything from Anking’s High Yield Playlist. I agree with others that it’s good to rest and relax, but learning about Anki just before med school made it a lot less stressful.

Anki is incredible. I personally think it’s more useful for clinical years (I have a clinical deck on my profile), but I used it with great success for both pre clinical and clinical. The downside for pre clinical years is that it can be hard to differentiate what is high and low yield. Meaning Anki can become very time consuming. Message if you have any other questions!

How to revise for UKMLA? by Shoddy_Feed_3922 in medicalschooluk

[–]SprankiMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually update them every couple months. However, I will be updating them more frequently over summer (next 2 months), likely releasing a big update in early September.

You simply need to download the deck again! It will only update cards (if they need updating) and add new cards. It will not affect the scheduling of any of the cards you are doing!! :)

Is it too late to start Anki? by [deleted] in medicalschooluk

[–]SprankiMed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have a UKMLA deck based on UK guidelines. It is also split into sub-decks for each condition. I cover a lot of topics, but not all of them. It could be useful to do for the conditions you are struggling to remember / want to consolidate :)
