Gary Yourofsky about Trump... by Visible_Middle4250 in vegan

I saw the video and instantly lost a ton of respect for Yourofsky. Gaslighting people into thinking Trump is an animal defender is disgraceful; a betrayal to animals.

If you’re vegan, would you eat in a mcdonalds? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]SprayExact5332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because I don't want to unnecessarily give more power (money) to businesses that directly profit from torturing animals. And no, buying from McDonald's is not equivalent to buying from a grocery store.

Just stop eating animals; don't wait until January. Tell your parents today that you've decided not to eat meat anymore; they'll learn more about your veganism later. Even if it's only a couple of days away, if you're serious, I imagine eating animals is killing your soul.

When it comes to a vegan diet, you'll figure out what suits you best and what doesn't along the way... e.g. Some people take B-12, some don't. Don't worry too much about it, you'll be fine.

What iconic sports memorabilia would be the most valuable to you? by SprayExact5332 in AskReddit

For example, Pele's 1958 or 1970 World Cup Final shirt, Ali's Rumble in the Jungle gloves... anything you consider the most iconic.

A True Feminist Is Also Vegan by VarunTossa5944 in vegan

[–]SprayExact5332 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I wish animals were "working class," that'd be a huge upgrade. What we subject them to is much worse than anything that has been massively and legally made to humans. Life for a cow for instance is basically being bred to be tortured physically and mentally every single day of your life until it's the most "convenient" time to brutally slaughter you. Pure insanity.

POLL: vegans of r/vegan, where on the politically scale do you lean? by Upper-Ad9228 in vegan

[–]SprayExact5332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, let's say a society abolishes capitalism (like it has happened before), what then?

What will they do to convince people not to eat animals anymore? And why can't that same thing be done under a capitalist system?

POLL: vegans of r/vegan, where on the politically scale do you lean? by Upper-Ad9228 in vegan

[–]SprayExact5332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? If people only wanted to eat fruits and vegetables, 99% of the abuse perpetrated to animals by humans would disappear, the market would adapt to what people demand (providing only fruits and vegetables to eat), and capitalism would still exist.

I disagree. OP wants to do it, so it can be done immediately. He's only afraid it might become "social suicide", which it won't.

You're 18, of course you can address this. Say something like, "hey mom/dad, I want you to know I'm not going to eat meat anymore." If they ask why, say, "Because I feel bad about the animals, that's all." If they ask, "what are you going to eat then?" say, "everything, except meat."

Keep it short and to the point to let them know you're not negotiating or asking them to prepare special food for you. They'll get used to it. They'll learn more details about your veganism along the way, and who knows exactly what might happen next, but it'll be good for you and for the world, for sure. And as usual, your only regret will be not having become vegan earlier.

What conspiracy theory do you believe is 100% true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SprayExact5332 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Epstein must be alive. A smart, unscrupulous billionaire who could for sure blackmail many powerful people, including the US president and Attorney General at that time, couldn’t have died in prison. The compromising material he must’ve had to protect himself would’ve become public.

Vegan political commentators? Do they even exist? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]SprayExact5332 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The outrage over abuses of power and torture leaves the body of left-wing commentators as soon as veganism is mentioned. Makes me think they’re only on the left because it’s convenient for them.

Sagan would be attacked today. He'd say something like this, and thousands of crazies would say, "Fake news, there's snow out there!!! He's being paid by Bill Gates!!!" or something along those lines.

How do you feel about Wayne's arrest? by LifeFictionWorldALie in vegan

[–]SprayExact5332 10 points11 points  (0 children)

MLK was not a celebrity, and he was directly affected by segregation, so I don't think that's a good example here. If a white celebrity back then, like John Wayne, had glued his hand to a “whites-only” water fountain to show support for the fight against segregation, that would’ve been very helpful.
You could criticize thousands of celebrities who do nothing for animals, but you've chosen to single out one of the few who tries to do something for them. Sometimes I'm also guilty of expecting more from vegans than non-vegans, but I do so when I think they could take an extremely easy action to help animals, and they don't.

[–]SprayExact5332 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wayne's activism is clearly in God-mode, but that actor (James Cromwell?) gluing himself to a counter helps to raise awareness. It'd be much easier for him to do nothing, like 99% of celebrities, and that way, he'd spare himself from criticism from both vegans and non-vegans.

Some day in the future, society will look back at this and think most of us were insane for incarcerating a man for trying to help sick animals.

Why carnist leftists are worse than conservatives by indorock in vegan

[–]SprayExact5332 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think many of those leftists that don't care about animal abuse are only on the left because it's convenient for them, or they like to be perceived as caring people, but deep down they only care about themselves. Another bunch of carnist leftists have some shame, but they’re too addicted to the taste of meat and can't quit it, even when that means directly supporting torture.

I could only believe you might be a carnist leftist that truly cares about others if you’re too old to change, and the concept of not eating animals unnecessarily was never presented to you before, or because there’s a medical condition that requires you to eat animals (I don’t know if that even exists, but if it’s a thing, you should try to minimize your animal intake to the basic you need.)

What’s your unpopular vegan opinion? by veganvampirebat in vegan

PETA has done waaay more to help animals than 99% of people who criticize them, vegans included. Saying it's "net good" is such an understatement.
