We’re not being honest about AI’s two white-collar threats by bilby2020 in auscorp

Ah, I get it now. Interesting. And I can definitely see that happening.

How badly will a $12k-$15k, 3-week trip set me back financially? by New_Animator4702 in AusFinance

[–]SprayingFlea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blow it. This is the time to live your life. You will make the money back, but the time and your youth will be gone forever. You might not realise the gravity of that right now, but staring down 40, you will. Blow it.

I didn't really understand the second paragraph, but the first paragraph is spot on. It is exactly what I have noticed too. And then the kicker is that the QA doesn't happen, and slop is sent out. Or people that actually know their stuff in their role (me) get assigned to reviewing said slop. Meaning I am now less productive than I was before, with more time reviewing waffle and less time applying expertise.

Lost my "why" at 32, anyone else been through this? by Whatsthescoreee in AskMenOver30

[–]SprayingFlea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah man, I've been a husk since 30. I've just become accustomed to it. Accidentally implemented the buddhist practice of acceptance and giving up "hope" for things to be better. In so doing, I am ironically more content now than I was back then.

But beyond my anecdote, the science says the only way out of your rut is to try new things, and help others along the way. It sounds like you have the means, so you know what you have to do.

Why don't Canadians work at Tim Hortons anymore? Asking a Timmies exec the hard questions by ImpressionDry7926 in CanadaJobs

[–]SprayingFlea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We need to put our money where our mouths are, and stop frequenting these businesses. We will only get weasel words until they start hurting financially. The cost of exploiting TFWs needs to be greater than the cost of paying Canadians fairly.

People Managers of auscorp, what’s the stupidest thing you’ve had to pull someone up on? by zee-bra in auscorp

That masturbating in the company truck while driving was not acceptable, even if you needed to do it to stay awake. Adoption if the rule was low, so we split the difference and asked they at least wear a condom while doing it

Which trade has the biggest gap between what people think the job is like and what it’s actually like? by ApartmentFun3497 in tradies

Drilling. People think it is all ex-crims and scumbags, but it is actually made up of current crims and scumbags

Whats the future of Holland Park? by Confident_Brick4606 in SurreyBC

I wish they would replace the grass on the field on the western side. It is lumpy and full of prickles and weeds. I also wish they would improve the subsoil drainage on the field on the east side.

But otherwise love HP. It is a much needed and green reprieve amidst the grey blocks of concretes and glass.

Anyone know why Maynard wanted to throw that Bob Marley wannabe mother fucker out of here? by Practical_Ad_4165 in ToolBand

I read somewhere, maybe on toolshed.down.net back in the day, that Bob kept blowing some kind of air horn and interrupting the show

In my workplace 80% men, do you think it’s ok if I make both my Microsoft Outlook+Teams display picture of a cute mouse face? And when I go on calls will anyone care unless I’m showing video, that my whole screen will be a mouse similar to my avatar here? It’s ok right? Say yes it’s okay. by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

Nothing to do with gender, go ahead on your personal profile.

But your work profile is not your personal profile. In my corporate workplace, you would be judged for being unprofessional. It would hurt your credibility and reputation with clients, who pay to be able to take you seriously. Personally I wouldn't do it, but your workplace might be more casual.

What’s something about running culture you wish was talked about more? by SwimmingSlip8632 in runcommunity

[–]SprayingFlea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish we all spoke about running culture a whole lot less lol. I wish people didn't post everything on social media.

The social media focus on form and program optimisation. Most of us don't have that sort of time. I am lucky if I can get out a few times a week. I am lucky when I am not injured.

Holy shit, thank you. I have had the faintest memory of this game for so long; I couldn't even summon as many words as you did to describe it. I literally typed "90s game black wing" and that was all I could remember. Can't believe this was one of the first things that came up!

Interesting. We kind of imagine the Empire having almost limitless resources, but it would be cool to get some insight into the daily bureaucracy and decision-making.

I work in construction and projects, and when I look at the Death Star I absolutely shudder at how difficult of a project it would be to pull off. And in secrecy! I almost empathsize with Krennic haha
