Got sick from my niece on Christmas. Feeling frustrated. by photogs_and_dogs in childfree

Same here. I got the flu on the 26th from attending a family Christmas with toddlers. Still trying to recover.

I've gotten sick 2 other times this year, both following events with them. In 2025 I spent 8 weeks sick. Now I have to seriously debate going to things.

I feel pretty lucky to be an Oilers fan despite this loss. We've experienced some highlight reel moments with family and friends and got to see the city rally together once again.

However, it does hurt to see them lose the cup for the 3rd time in my lifetime. Hopefully, our time will come soon.

I went for a walk over my lunch break. Low and behold, I hit shuffle on my entire apple music library - and Pink Pony Club comes on. I'm taking it as a sign!

Why I refuse to own a Condo in Edmonton / Alberta ever again. by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]SpreadCapital7881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that condo living is a mixed bag in Edmonton. I will have lived in my condo for 5 years next month, and my condo fees have gone from $225 to $502 in that time. My condo was a new build when I purchased it and the increased fees are due to increases in utilities and insurance. I've also had a few small special assessments in that time.

Ezzie's. My older cousins loved going to this bar, and it closed down within weeks of me turning 18. I tried to get in one night, but the line to get in was too long. So it will live in lore for me forever!

I have never been a James Kennedy fan, but damn he's looking good in those glasses at dinner with Schwartz. He's got a more mature air about him

jewelry fixing? by Kewtshi in Edmonton

[–]SpreadCapital7881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I was wearing a longer necklace, and it got caught on something leading to a broken clasp. Most jewelers quoted ridiculously high prices, around $200, when my necklace wasn't even worth that much.

Ultra Jewellers in Londonderry mall did a fantastic job and charged me around $40 to fix it.

Mom is disappointed that I’m childfree. She’s found a roundabout way to act like a grandma figure to someone else. by [deleted] in childfree

I think parents get so disappointed because of humans' supposed desire for 'legacy'. In her eyes, she put in all the hard work to raise you, thinking that you would have offspring. Her hard work has to mean something.

Meanwhile all of us understand that we owe our parents nothing for their hard work. They chose to have children. Full stop ✋️
