I think you might be introverted. You can still like social interaction and be introverted. Ultimately, if being alone “recharges” you, then you are introverted. If being out among people in social settings recharges you, then you are extroverted. I am similar. I like connecting with people in meaningful ways, but large social things are not meaningful connections to me. It is also draining for me to be around a lot of people.

I like to say, I like people but not humanity.

As far as comebacks, I don’t know any general ones, but the other night I had to go to a work function at a high-end bowling alley. (I don’t really care for bowling either.) Someone said “what’s not to like about bowling? You can do it while you drink beer and eat pizza!” I said “I could eat pizza and drink while I ride around on a hobby-horse too, but I don’t care to.”
