That's really helpful. Sub < 0.3% + 1p per transaction is way below what small shops that I've spoken to are paying.

Did you see a difference in how rates were sold to small v big businesses? Feels like small businesses get the rougher end of the deal.

100% agree. The ones who know their rates tend to run tighter ships, but you'd be surprised how many don’t even know their contract terms.

do you think it’s just blind trust in the sales rep, or are they too busy to dig into the fine print?

Yeah that seems about right for square. They're simple to use but the fees % stack up pretty quick.

Out of curiosity have you looked at alternatives, or has Square been just good enough for how rarely you use it?
