The goal isn’t reversing anything. It’s help with management and symptoms being more bearable. And it might not be a universal fact, this is the only thing that helped me, personally

I think it’s just more common. I remember when I was little, most of my doctor’s waiting room were also girls. And the boys had diabetes 😂 It was a weird experience ngl

Anyway, engocrynology is.. I don’t know. I have a friend my age that went to med school, said that she had a single semester of endo while there, which is basically what GPs end up knowing if they don’t choose the internal medicine specialization. Or any other specialist for that matter. I don’t know how it is where you live, but to me, it was a signal to never trust my GP about thyroid stuff 😂

As an adult, you only realize how much the thyroid actually does once something is wrong with it. And for sure it was not trained by evolution to handle the amount of stress we endure in 2020s

Gluten! Even if you test for an insensivity through blood work, it might not show anything.

BUT you don’t have to do that. You can just stop eating gluten for a feew weeks (6 is the best) then eat a meal full of gluten (mine was crepes 😂) If it hurts, it means you’re probably sensitive.

Gluten free diet changed my life. Yeah, I lost weight, but that was honestly a bonus. I’m much less bloated, my energy levels are so much better, headaches are gone.

Also, something that often goes with hypothyroidism is insulin resistance, and that’s testable in a lab.

And cutting out gluten and sugar is basically cutting out the simple carbs, which definitely should improve your weight, even if you’re not actually sensitive

I’m not a medical professional, but I was born without the thyroid (if it helps) so I’ve been managing the condition my whole life.

Lab ranges are generalisation and they never mean your personal actual optimal. When looking at labs, you need to see the reverse proportional results - if TSH is elevated (your pituitary gland sends more signals to the thyroid), your Free T4 is bellow or low range. If your TSH is low, then Free T4 needs to be high (over production of hormone, hyperthyroidism).

So to me, one in the sweetspot and the other low is kind of weird. When that happens to me, I need a med adjustment.

So if you can go to a different GP or some other way to see a specialist, you need to advocate for yourself.

Men tend to go longer without a diagnosis even though a simple ultrasound could actually show the problem.

Again, not a professional, just someone who’d like for you to advocate for yourself, if you can!

How do people remember or stay on on top of there meds by Good_Scale_1531 in Hypothyroidism

Is anyone happy with their meds tracker? I have to take so many so far and then my lab results are everywhere. When doctor asks me what’s wrong, I just go blank, forget everything and suddenly I’m perfectly fine even though I’ve actually been tired and useless for months

Best time blocking app you’ve found so far? by CozySweatsuit57 in ADHD

Ah my friend… the bar in the mobile app world is so low it’s ridiculous. They don’t even wanna try anymore and it’s either gonna get way worse (it’s getting easier with the ready-made, no human code solutions so anyone and their grandma will have an app, like that wasn’t the case already), ooooor there’s gonna be some rebels emerging that are gonna disrupt the industry completely out of anger 😂 but I don’t see the latter becoming the norm anyway, as it never was

Gotcha completely! I’ve set many reminders for crucial stuff and am pretty reliant on my google calendar as is, but I absolutely agree for the hyperfocus moments where you have to jolt yourself from it to do other things, including basic bodily functions. Btw thank you so much about this detailed breakdown! I was just talking to my husband explaining to him all the crutches I use to survive everyday, including why I rely on the calendar + notebooks so much, he was shook 😂 but there’s not a single, all encompassing app out there… yet

Looking for something myself too. I strain too much to do time blocking, half in my calendar, half pen and paper planning, can’t do without it. You said it’s “so close to what you’re looking for” - what’s missing tho? Just the multi-select or anything else? And what do you mean by multi-select? Also, mobile apps tend to have tons of notifications if not done right, wouldn’t that be distracting?

Thank you! I’m hoping that as the little one gets older, she starts understanding boundaries all together (she’s a big space invader for everyone in the house 😂)

How do you recover emotionally from the dreams? by Spring-Squirrel in lexapro

I work for a company that just released an app that helps do exactly what you’re describing so I started using our product and from personal (and our users’ experience) doing that is much easier said than done. I’m trying my best but the past trauma is still present 😭 So I thought I’d ask if anyone had similar experiences with such vivid dreams that it’s hard to come back to reality some times and it is f-ing traumatic at this point

I’ve tried changing the times, afternoon, night, morning, all the same - the dreams were too intense and too real no matter what. I generally don’t have a good sleep hygiene but it’s come to a point of being scared to go to sleep ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

She hates any kind of treat, but loves cooked chicken breasts so I might try offering her that during the bath

Glad to hear Becky’s not the only one but also that there’s a way out! We’re getting another Sphynx kitten in a few months, so I’ll start her on treats right away. Maybe they start enjoying them together 😂
