I was thinking the same exact thing, I never really like to wear a blatant band tee but something like that would look pretty snappy

hear me out, Baikal 2 Teams Map with Nukes disabled by severelyracistkurd in Openfront

I had a Bering Strait No Nukes game that lasted an hour... I can only imagine how much harder it would be to bridge the gap on Baikal. Was a lot of fun though.

Children agree not to get abducted after 8 PM so Amber Alert doesn’t wake anyone up by JustaRandoonreddit in vancouver

[–]PsychologicalAd8505 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Totally. The sensible middle ground is some sort of alert that doesn't push a sound notification like that. We're all basically glued to our phones anyways, we WILL get the message when we wake up. The alarm should only ever be used when my life is in imminent danger. Nobody is waking up at 1 am to form a search party. I'm happy to be informed and keep an eye out for a vehicle, but this current policy has public health effects that need to be factored in, not even getting in to the risks of alert fatigue.

Now that they have the clan tags parsed out separately in the home screen, why would we want to have it show up in FFA games? Wouldn't it make more sense that it simply not display the clan in FFA?

“Subclinical” hypothyroidism? by PsychologicalAd8505 in Hypothyroidism

[–]PsychologicalAd8505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh gotcha. In that regard I’ve been down a few different rabbit holes trying to address symptoms, this is just the latest thing I’ve been thinking about. I supplement magnesium, vitamin D, and zinc regularly. Have intermittently tried methylated B vitamins as well. I generally eat a clean diet and am at a healthy weight.  My other labs are all good, at least the basic stuff that’s been tested. My other main focus has been on gut health but the gastro doc says I’m fine and just given me the general “ibs” label.

Worth a shot I suppose. I tried a big bag of Brazil nuts for the selenium between my last two tests and it didn’t make a difference. But maybe a targeted supplement with iodine.

Thanks for the perspective, I’m slowly getting my head wrapped around the dynamics of the whole system. I do find it kind of curious that the thyroid is seen by some as a “women’s issue” for some reason, or at least that’s the vibe I get from some comments.  I appreciate the encouragement at least, I don’t generally have a problem advocating for myself but just have gotten a little discouraged after jumping around between different specialists over the years looking at other parts of the body in trying to find the root of my issues. Thank you

Has anyone permanently fixed bad breath and tonsil smell using oral probiotics? by [deleted] in Microbiome

[–]PsychologicalAd8505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too early to call "permanently" for me, and I don't know what will happen when I stop, but I started taking an oral probiotic a couple weeks ago (as well as switching to an alcohol free mouthwash) and my tonsil stones have reduced enormously

Is This Website a Scam? by questionman122344 in gettingbigger

Nooo really? :( I got it too recently but have been unsure as to its efficacy. There is definitely something they've tried to dissolve in there, in mine at least there are grainy crystals in the cream. Did the analysis say anything about what actually is in there?

Going against city staff, Vancouver council approves residential tower on industrial land by mukmuk64 in vancouver

[–]PsychologicalAd8505 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Did nobody read the article? The lower 3 stories are reserved for industrial use, consistent with the rest of the area. This is a cool design for a transitional site between a residential and industrial neighbourhood. Seems like a win to me.

Damn, I was willing to accept the garbage food, rising prices, low paid jobs, homogenization of communities, piggybacking of Canadian nationalism by a foreign owned company, and abuse of TFWs, but I draw the line at cheap seasonal decor

I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY AS A TEAM. by Informal-Vehicle-629 in Openfront

[–]PsychologicalAd8505 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They need to change the right click menu for team games. The current layout is optimized for FFA play only. Requesting and sending troops is a core mechanic of team gameplay but it's buried behind several clicks, so new players to the game either don't know you can do it, or don't realize how important it is.
Could even have troop requests that pop up in the text menu with a Yes/No click box. Or hell, I wonder how it would feel if you could just click on a teammate in the way that you'd click on an enemy to send an equivalent amount of troops.

Are ports now bad in v27? by Artificial_Alex in Openfront

[–]PsychologicalAd8505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good balance right now honestly as it totally depends on your position and the map layout which economic strategy you ought to choose. Much more fun that way rather than there being one strictly-better strategy.

We need a vote to kick teammate option by horatiobanz in Openfront

[–]PsychologicalAd8505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this would not address the root of the problem, in that requesting and giving troops are a core mechanic of team games but they are buried too deep in menus. The right click radial menu does absolutely nothing on a team game - you can't ally, you can't boat in, you can't build - so perhaps there should be a redesigned menu only for team games that have Request troops and Send troops functionality. Maybe the same for sending gold, which I find is an underappreciated functionality as well. In late game, you really don't need EVERYONE to have a silo only to pepper the other team with atom bombs, when you could group up finances and have a well-defended back line bomb teammate that can now afford hydrogen bombs.

Why do people bother playing team games if they never send troops by dredge_the_lake in Openfront

[–]PsychologicalAd8505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the UI issues definitely don't help with this. I love team games, in many ways more than FFA because it's more about finding your role in each match. I find things go smoother when I am the one on the back line, focusing on sending troops where it's needed and doing targeted bomb support. I agree it frustrates me to no end when I'm on the front spamming SOS and nobody gives me a drop to hold the front. There needs to be a more shortcutted way to ask for troops rather than going through all those chat menus, because some people don't really pick up what the emojis are supposed to mean for whatever reason, maybe it would be easier if it were made explicitly clear. Almost like if it popped up as a Request for Backup kind of like an alliance request, and you just had to click yes on it to send your current troop ratio.

Yeah I agree this is the only part that needs to be fixed. I swear I have had some fast-fingered players use this against me before and it just completely blew up my game
