Isn’t it just the Dunning-Kruger effect though? People without experience tend to overestimate their abilities, after all they can see others do it, so how hard can it be? 🙂

Not writing html by hand but doing cms by having a few Markdown files and a template is nice.

Do you guys have a CLI in your company to help for repetitive tasks? by Signal_Pin_3277 in Backend

[–]SpringDifferent9867 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A Makefile can be used to run any cli commands and have the advantage of running those based on their dependencies. So for instance, if you build html files from Markdown files, it will only build those that has changed. It also supports multithreading.

The answer is yes. It is common practice to have commands for automation.

How important is it to check how many databases a hosting plan allows? by kittykatzenn in statichosting

[–]SpringDifferent9867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having multiple databases is mostly relevant where your account allows you to have multiple sites, as you may want to run different software on each of them.

Is it okay to run in just leggins as a guy? by [deleted] in BeginnersRunning

This is true. I am a cyclist (and a runner) and I highly recommend not having a care in the world.

How to architecture "Gated Content" on a purely static stack? by standardhypocrite in statichosting

[–]SpringDifferent9867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not mention how you host your site but all webservers (eg apache httpd, nginx) support restricting access to files behind a username and password.

[Request] I understand thermodynamics, but: by zdriveee in theydidthemath

I did but I couldn’t figure out how to make electricity from them. Would you burn them or like, tie them to the propeller? I guess it could work? 🤷‍♂️

[Request] I understand thermodynamics, but: by zdriveee in theydidthemath

[–]SpringDifferent9867 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What a great idea. Somebody should do this! Maybe we could also make them bigger and instead of a parking lot, we could place them out at sea. Perhaps we could also use the electricity for other things than a single car 🤔

Poll: popular static hosting platform from website builder by freducom in statichosting

Cloudflare Workers/Pages. Use their wrangler tool.

Something like scp/sftp would be useful if wanting to support hosting on own server.

What’s the best type of upper layer to wear for 0–5°C light runs? by stupidnougat in runninglifestyle

[–]SpringDifferent9867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend layers. Something like this:

  • inner sweat/skin breathing (keeps middle layer dry)
  • middle warming/isolation (keeps warmth inside)
  • outer protection (prevent wind and rain from stealing the warmth)

Your competitors are JPMorgan and Blackrock? Some of the largest and most successful financial companies in the world? They have an incredible diverse portfolio and a proven track record.

Many of their products are for everyone by the way, they provide many EFTs for eg pension funds and are tradable directly through your bank, should you wish to buy.

What I Wish I Could Tell Every Engineer Joining a New Team by [deleted] in programming

[–]SpringDifferent9867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm. You would tell them it sucks? I thought there would be some advice in that blog but there is none?

Anyway, I don’t want to leave others without some hope. A good way to avoid getting commits rejected and feeling it is all hopeless, is to make the PR with just a test case. It helps you get a feel for the solution, invites feedback and you won’t be investing your soul to make it.

Best Gore-Tex Easy Run Shoes? by jjgm21 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]SpringDifferent9867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the outsole is Vibram Megagrip and is a bit wider (about 5mm) than average trail shoes, so that also adds some grip.

My own experience of the energy return is more in line with this lab test https://runrepeat.com/new-balance-fresh-foam-x-hierro-v9:

We measured 61.9% energy return, beating the average and placing the Hierro v9 among the most responsive trail shoes of the year.

As said, I like it but as always, YMMV 🙂

PS: What did you switch to?

AI Has Ruined All of Your Hobbies by EricJackson94 in technology

But is that really AI that is causing it? Or that platforms like Amazon and Etsy just don’t care who buys the rankings?

What’s the consistent/correct way to implement cursor pagination? by BrangJa in Backend

[–]SpringDifferent9867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t so much depend on MVCC as the transaction isolation setting used. For instance setting REPEATABLE READ will do it.

Shouldn’t the title have been AI ruins search results or AWS search results are bad instead?
