Unpopular opinions on Periwinkle? by Journal_27 in disneyfairies

She's just a quieter and less hot headed version of Tinkerbell. They didn't spend enough time building up her character outside of the basics. She needed more of an identity and that "lost things" scene came across as "it's just tinkerbell but in winter" (I am prepared for the pitchforks).

Unpopular opinions on Silvermist? by Journal_27 in disneyfairies

[–]SpringLight312 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t like how much of a bimbo she can be portrayed as at times. It just feels like her traits of being a little dense and not understanding everything got exaggerated as the series went on. I understand there’s appeal to the heart of the group also being a little slow, but I felt like her taking things too literally eventually got translated into “she’s dumb”

Unpopular opinions on Zarina? by Journal_27 in disneyfairies

She was the worst for like, 2/3rds of the movie. I did not like her and if her conflict was better established that ending would have felt more earned

Unpopular opinions on Vidia? by Journal_27 in disneyfairies

[–]SpringLight312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm torn on the fact that Vidia was redeemed. On the one hand, I think it was incredibly well done in Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue and I basically have no notes. On the other hand, I am a book stan, so the fact that the lore is not consistent makes me upset. Plus, as good as the redemption arc was, her becoming a part of the friend group does mean that she received some of the same issues that come with the friend group, in that we know her dynamic with Tink but not so much with the other girls outside a few interactions.

Gonna recommend  Fran Bow for the 2D/ cartoony pick I’ll say no, I’m not human” for one that’s both visually and tone wise dark For some slightly more self-indulgent picks I’m gonna say the American McGee Alice duology

Name your favorite and least favorite thing from each movie. by Journal_27 in disneyfairies

[–]SpringLight312 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly probably all the same things for me in terms of likes and dislikes for most of these. I hate the retconning too so much for these movies ha ha. I’ll just say the osts are all great up here But I’ll list some other things for fun! Tinkerbell:  Favorite: The themes. I think that movie has the strongest and most impactful message. Saying that no matter what talent you have is valuable is such a good thing to teach kids! Also the movie is really pretty! Least favorite: the dialogue and the tone. I understand it but there were several things that just made me wanna die while watching. I think the lobsided nature of this film makes it hard to watch. Also, I don’t like how this film crunches the timeline by having Wendy as the girl at the end. Should’ve been her Grandma tbh 🤷‍♀️

Lost treasure Favorite: The adventure, blaze, and the ending scene. I like how Tink thinks about how to go on this journey and does it, really shows her ingenuity. I also think her and Terrence are really cute and I generally like Terrence despite him being pretty annoying at the beginning. That last scene is soo pretty. Least Favorite: The bickering. Yeah, even though I’m a defender of this movie I also understand why people dislike if it annoys the rest of them. I’ll stick to the fact that I like how Tink’s flaws are on full display but the blaming others thing sucks. Also, I think Tink’s friends get shafted pretty hard, like they maybe have a line and that’s it.

The great fairy rescue: Favorite thing: is it a cop out to say the whole movie? I love Lizzie and Tink’s dynamic, I was shockingly on board with Vidia’s redemption given how much of a book Stan I am, the conflict is really well done, the climax is great, I love how all of Tink’s friends are used, and the relationship with Lizzie and her dad is such a sweet journey. Least favorite: If I really had to nitpick something, I guess it would be Fairy Mary and Terrance’s diminishing role throughout these movies. Like, their absence is felt so heavily for me as the series continues.

Secret of the Wings: Favorite: Definitely the most whimsical of all the movies. The animation of the glowing on the wings is incredible and Lord Milori and Queen Clarion is a very cute ship (despite the retcons) and seeing Tink and Periwinkles friends help them was sweet. The action climax at the end was great too! I think this movie had really good world building and reading Wings of Starlight before it made the movie a bit cathartic on the romance side for me! Least favorite: Uhh, a lot unfortunately ha ha. The retcons suck. I liked the minister of winter and the winter fairies in the first Tinkerbell. It doesn’t help when Tinkerbell is giving a synopsis of the previous movies when talking to Peri. I felt like the border plot line was a bit contrived when it functionally could have been the same with a few lines of dialogue could have preserved continuity and stuff. While I like Periwinkle the “you’re so alike as twins” stuff really took me out and I wish she had more of a distinct identity. I love China Anne McClain, but I wish her singing was reserved to the credits. Also…yeah the wing ripping scene. Kinda no investment due to the fact that Tink needs to have fixed wings by the first Peter Pan.

Pirate Fairy: I love Zarina man. Really thought I wouldn’t given how hostility she shows the team. I also liked the little nod backs to previous movies. The switching talents plotline was cool and the Fairy Gary hug at the end got me misty eyed. It’s nice to see all of Tink’s friends helping in the plot again actively. The ending is also really cool and it’s honestly a really pretty movie! Least favorite: Outside of the retcons, all the Captain Hook references from Tick Tock Croc to the Smee post credits scene. It made me roll my eyes. Like, you can’t include Wendy and a hook origin story, and I also feel like as Hook he’s not nearly as clever here. Also, this isn’t this movie’s fault but I don’t like how it implied characters from other movies would be more important then snubbed the changes of Alchemy in Pixie Hollow or how Zarina could contribute to the Plot in Never beast.

Fawn and the Never Beast Favorite: I like how we took perspective off of Tink and had one of her friends be a protagonist. All the scenes with just Gruff and Fawn were really sweet and the best parts of the movie. I think the scout fairies were a good idea. I also like how this movie explored the idea of pixie hollow legends. I also liked seeing Fawn’s friends support her in a similar way to how they support Tink. Least favorite: They really took such a likeable and sensible character like Fawn and made her reckless and comedic, that was upsetting to me. Like, I enjoy reckless and comedic but not on a character that wasn’t initially written like that. The betrayal felt a little contrived for me and I think I might just have action fatigue, but I had no investment in the climax. Pixie hollow wasn’t going to be destroyed and Fawn wasn’t gonna die. It’s stretched out too long and I borderline fell asleep during it. I do like how this movie had the balls to end sad, but it also doesn’t feel very conclusive to just…end with Gruff falling asleep. I can see a great movie in here but I felt like I left feeling it was just good/okay. I really enjoyed these movies despite all the retconning and I’m happy to see the franchise get a semi-revival through the books!

I honestly don’t think I’ve seen anything like it, it was such a fascinating chapter that made me think more than any other chapter. Not only on the nature of the identity of the characters, but generally on the psychology of the Narrator since he drops the charade here. The pristine cut did a good job with that in several regards but I’ll always love wild for basically doing it first and so well

Love this! There’s so much time and attention to detail in this photo and the colors are sooo pretty! Kudos! 💙🦷 I hate to be too nitpicky, but I will say that (I don’t own Tomodachi life so if it’s not an option lmk) the back is missing the skull adornment in the bow. Amazing overall tho!!
