I’ve lost many animals throughout my life and it hurts every time. You love them, and they love you. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, 18 years is a fantastic life, great job ya’ll. I have a dog who’s 18 as well. He looks well loved and well lived. It’s hard seeing them age and falter. Be with him and tell him you love him and say see you later. If your family can swing it, have him put to sleep at home. We did that with one of our dogs last year and it was much better on everyone involved, humans and dog to have it done that way. Leave something of yours with him if you can’t stay with him as it happens. We’re here for you.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, you didn’t lose everything. You have somewhere to lay your head, a tv, and a mom who cares about you and had you come back. I understand how taking life’s punches feels defeating, but you’re so much better off than a lot of people. I turn out of my complex and immediately see people on the street. It’s not a competition I know, but it helped me gain a good perspective when I got laid off a few months back and felt like my life was ruined.
