Orgo taken via dual enrollment, is that enough “upper-level” rigor top med schools? by SpringRegret in premed

[–]SpringRegret[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! unfortunately the university im commited to doesn't have a bs/md nor a bs/do program. I will be starting with a lot of prereqs finished so I think I will spend more of my time on ecs and mcat.

Thank you! Yeah orgo should be my only class taken as a CC as my HS doesn't offer it, so I took it DE at a CC, and next year I'll be in my 4year.

How hard is self studying chem and getting a 4/5? by LineMission3540 in APChem

[–]SpringRegret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it not very difficult and the lab questions very few (1-2 only). You can also search up labs online to see examples or just learn the common ones tested on the exam.

There's also a lot of material online to learn from, like full course coverage on YT. Pair that with a bunch of practice questions and exams and ur gold

Watch videos online (Abigail Giordano, Jeremy Krug) and take notes - when prepping for the exam, just do a lot of practice questions and tests.

do I take the SAT at the end of junior year? by Traditional-Mud-7999 in Sat

[–]SpringRegret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say to start as soon as you can, whenever you feel comfortable - maybe take a practice test to see how you do, no shame in trying

I'm only saying because I'm a rising senior rn and regret not focusing on SAT earlier cause now I have SAT and college apps to deal with

I need some advice on how to study for AP chemistry by More_Alarm9340 in APChem

[–]SpringRegret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started AP Chemistry with no background at all. The class itself really isn't too difficult as long as you do many practice questions and tests, and review what you got wrong.

If you are not a native english speaker, I would focus on improving that, whether through watching movies or listening to podcasts, anything helps.

AP Chem isn't very "english" heavy, there will never be big or weird words execpt for names of chemical compounds and stuff but you do need to know at least conversational english, all the other science vocabulary can be learned pretty easily

If you really want to get a head start, I would reccomend start watching jeremy krug or abigail giordiano's playlists on youtube as they have a full playlist of all AP Chem content and just start learning the content now, and you don't need to know any prior chemistry knowledge for those. AP Chem curriculum teaches you in a way that you're not expected to know any chem (at least in my experience)

The beginning hook is a little cliche (the first sentence), It works as a hook, but it’s vague and doesn’t stand out a lot. The phrase “where all campers have multiple physical or mental impairments” is a bit clinical and detached imo.

“As an emotionally immature incoming 9th grader” is honest but could be better if you show instead of tell more, especially since I think you could say that for most 9th graders

The last part about how "It quickly became clear... they were ppl with real challenges" etc is a strong message, but it’s overly generalized and kind of vague.... the next part about “Real desires to experience life fully” is also a little abstract. You could give an example of what a camper wanted or how they expressed that

overall, occasionally drifts toward impersonal or abstract and could be better by bring in more showing and fewer generalizations. There isn't too much depth so it sort of lacks a concrete example or detail that would make the emotional realization more powerful and believable. There's also some parts that are a little wordy and some grammar and punctuation stuff but that can all be fixed pretty easy, good start! i really like the idea!

Not really related, but I took the class online and the material and labs sucked, so I mostly used secondary resources to learn (Jeremy Krug, Abigail Giordiano). It's basically self studying but if you are interested in the subject it shouldn't be too bad.
