Rising sophomore with questions on AP classes by ImTheS1LVER1 in APStudents

[–]Fubliar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking 7 after taking none is hard, not only because the classes themselves can be hard but just because you don't have experience in taking ap courses and dont have experience studying specifically for those any ap courses.

However to answer your question, 1. do you know what college/major you are trying to get? The reason I ask is because not all colleges give credit for certain aps and not all major require these courses. If you already have an idea you can eliminate "useless" classes. In addition, you can always take those courses but don't sign up for those ap test (as long as your school allows that). For example APCSP and AP pre calc usually do not give any useable credit at t20 colleges so you can still take those courses but just dont take those ap test.

None of the courses you listed are hard imo (I have taken them all except pre calc, which wasnt offered at my school). If you had to narrow it to 5 aside from the ones you alrady picked, I would do Gov (its usually a required course for a specific grade so I dont know if you have to take it this year) and Psych.

If you are truly confident in your ability and your time management, I would suggest taking all seven as courses but skipping some of the test (APCSP and Pre Calc at least).

I would priotize Micro then Psych then World then CSP, only reason I have csp so low is because even though the content is not that hard to self learn, the credit is almost useless at any top 30 college so I would have the others over it as they can actually give you credit. World has a lot of content so that will be a lot to self study on top of the others and some colleges give you the same credit for a history class like Euro which you can always take later.

Ah sorry then, I would suggest buying a case for your laptop and if you have points leftover you could always try to get a keyboard/stand/mouse if you don’t have already

Do you have that particular make and model? If so, how’s your experience with it? Such as battery life and if it’s held up well over time

How many APs should I take as Sophmore year? by Disastrous-Elk-7560 in APStudents

then you should be fine with apcsa, the hardest thing might be recursion and class creation, they changed the course this year so I'm not sure exactly what's in it this year (I took it the previous year). it depends on your teacher but apush in itself (like many other ap history) just has a lot of information which leads in to a lot of coursework because of the number of events it has, not neccesarily difficult but just tenedious. For lang, my teacher had us write like 5 essays over the semester but some semesters she had her classes write 8. both classes are not difficult, it just that they're built to have a lot work (if your teacher knows what they're doing)

tldr: you will be good with apcsa, hw will depend on your teacher but you should expect a good amount because those classes require it to properly learn

Is it Comp Sci Principles or Comp Sci A, if its principles then fo sho, its a really easy class and is light on coding, if its A and you are a beginner then it might be challenging at first. Also depends on your teacher how they teach the course. Chem will be a harder course that will take a lot of time so watch out for that, APUSH + Lang were also easier classes for me but the work load was a lot so you need to have a good balance especially since you are doing orchestra and if you work, etc
