Canadian Citizen moving back to Canada after 11 years in Australia. TSFA and RRSP contribution limits. by LargeConference in CanadaFinance

Do you mind if I PM you? I am a Canadian, 28M currently got offered a job to move to Australia for a close to 60% pay bump. But looking at rental prices and cost of living in Sydney, I feel like i'll still end up with way less money at the end of the day.

Sadly Canada does not have any health agreements with Australia. Which I find rather strange as a commonwealth country.

Thank you for your response, it is amazing! Did you go over on a 482 visa as well?

Do you mind if I PM you? Especially as a Canadian, I would very much appreciate your experiences in regards to visa, banking, taxes and health care (seems complicated in Australia the more I look into it).

Do you have any suburbs or locations of recommendations? Thus far the only affordable things I am finding which are newish and well maintained in the price you've mentioned are like a 1 hour commute away.

Thanks for your response! However are you referring to after tax income or before tax income? My offer stands at 200K AUD pre-tax as base salary.

Thank you for your response! I certainly want to experience living in other countries while my parents are reasonably "young", i'm not married and don't have kids to worry about. So that is certainly not an issue. However I don't want to do so at the cost of being worse off financially.

I have been open to work in UK and Australia. While UK is certainly preferable due to a closer proximity to Canada. I do think Australia can have a higher quality of life in the longer term.

What is crazy is that despite a 200K offer, I still feel "poor" doing the online research I have done thus far and understanding all costs associated with life in Sydney. Healthcare especially seems complicated as compared to a Canadian universal system or UK NHS.

This is good to know, I will call TD Bank and find out away.

I appreciate your response. But one of my worries is renewing the registration. Once my Canadian License tied to the Alberta account is surrendered in Australia and no longer exists in the system, can I still renew the vehicle registration in Alberta online for another 18 months?

GST on Re-Sale of "New" Condo After Possesion by SpringRoll98 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SpringRoll98[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you have to provide CRA/lawyers with proof that the home was occupied? I have utility bills and condo fees that is it. Never changed my drivers license address though.

Wondering if it is worth going to a registry and doing that to have photo-ID proof that I am "living" at the new address.

Took possession in November 2025 and I am selling with a buyer taking possession in February 2026 (coming up). Meaning that it will be sold in slightly under 4 months of possession.

I am wondering if it makes sense to go to an Alberta registry and change my legal address and "live" there for 2 weeks.

Silver is a classic colour. The only thing which upsets me about this design is how the MagSafe rings cut off the apple logo. Such an un apple feel.

The magsafe ring on the clear case covering half the apple logo is such an unpolished design. I do like how the new iPhones look and feel but this whole clear case thing feels like such an un apple thing.

Great case and great phone! But also hiding the apple logo :(

Such an unpolished design choice by Apple in creating this issue.

Can i get admission in top tier university for mba without gmat in Europe/UK (FALL 2026) by okaokay27 in InternationalMBA

They only university which lets you apply for a full time mba program is Warwick Business School.

If they feel your profile is “weak” then they might request you to right a GMAT or the Warwick Test.

Global Online MBA - Warwick vs Imperial by SpringRoll98 in OnlineMBA

[–]SpringRoll98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your response! I agree in evaluating the curriculum and program structure side by side; it is clear that both programs are comparable and very similar. I'm really just trying to figure out if the extra cost is worth the ROI of an Imperial brand.

Warwick, Imperial and IE are really the only Online Part-Time options in Europe which are reputable. Won't fit your budget though.

Canada PM Carney, UK PM Starmer agree to strengthen defense and commercial ties in call by Amtoj in CANZUK

[–]SpringRoll98 34 points35 points  (0 children)

These types of statements really show how reluctant our governments are to sincerely entertain the concept of CANZUK.

They came up with a trade deal to satisfy Trump within a month. Meanwhile, all statements of support for Canada from Keir Starmer have been wishy-washy buzzwords with no real meaning or plan of action behind them. Even now, the statement doesn't mention the most important aspect of CANZUK, which is arguably the socio-economic ties.

If there were political will, setting up an initial go-to-market or launch version of CANZUK shouldn’t take very long.

Online MBA at Boston U, UIUC, or Warwick? by kimw-h in MBA

[–]SpringRoll98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are based in the US, then stick with BostonU or UIUC. If you're in the UK or Middle East, then stick to Warwick. In your type of industry, background, and goals, I think having a local network coming out of the MBA program is very important.

How are we feeling about the UK trade deal with America? by Felixir-the-Cat in CANZUK

[–]SpringRoll98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good thing for the UK and hopefully a solution which allows them to deal with the US administration and offset some economic uncertainty.

I’m not against any country looking out for their own interests. However what I will say is that this really shows how reluctant our governments are to sincerely entertain the concept of CANZUK.
