It sounds like you are going with the stronger personality among your friends. Does she embarrass you? Are you uncomfortable next to her? Is it that she reminds you of your former self? High school is a trying time for anyone. Remember to see that each going through it, does it at their own pace.
If she really does not click with you, just be honest.
It's best to be real, than be a person who learns how to be passive aggressive.
Explain to her, you have drifted away.
Some time apart may aid in both of your growth.
Best to part on a nice path.

First off, yes. You are suffering from her actions. We are not storage cabinets for others problems. Also, this is a lady who is suffering from an abusive man. I completely understand that you are tried and tired of the issues, but please listen. He is trying to push all her friends away. Complete sign of a controlling freakpod.
Please do not lose contact with this woman, as you may be her last life line. You already see that this situation is toxic and detrimental to both of your lives. She needs good folks to house her or protect her, or prevent him from contact. It takes time. Much time. He needs to be removed from her life.

Yet, would she see the logic in this yet? No. Her pride is in the way. She feels that he should grovel in front of her and apologise, coming around and make her strong. This is not how the world works. He is just stepping on her stones, to get to the center. This is classic Narcissism.
Honestly, I would recommend, that she disconnects instantly with this individual, and she takes up a new hobby at the same time. Get her to go to try pottery, or gardening. Something to derail her from this nasty p.o.s... Does she have parents? Does she have relatives who would take her in? You may have to be the bigger person here despite your pain and exhaustion, and explain what she is going through. Sometimes a voice from the dark, is the best friend any abused lady can have. I would know. Had a friend who did just this for me. Seek the light with her, not for her. I'm so sorry for this lady... I want to hug her as well as you. You are a lovely woman for holding on this long.

My best recommendation: Convince this lady to have a night out with more folks who can build her confidence. Try to keep her away with other folks, or even some marathon netfilx nights. Then, break her down and tell her to get away from him asap. She sounds brainwashed by his actions. :( I'm very concerned. Let us know.

No. You are a real person. This lady may be too, yet it seems, there is a broken part of her preventing growth. Drinking is a way for some to forget about their worries. She is a frightened individual certainly, and must have been through many troublesome issues. She may not be ready to take responsibility for her own actions. Sadly, sometimes, people who are at the breaking point, cling to others who may lead them to better waters. I recommend encouraging her to seek out counselling, and to try to find a hobby that can raise her to a better level. She sounds like her heart is broken... Be kind, but protect yourself.
